    tru dat

I bet I could get 20k out of tires

    her…5k

consider this- the dude on the Tesla plaid channel has done >900 1/4 mile runs without a breakdown

how many ICE’s could do those runs?

then consider how many could do them under 10 seconds

    ponderous

    golden age, boys.

    No spare

and generally not a stocked tire at discount tire

For a daily driver, there is NOTHING better

yes, I’d rather cruise the weekends in the ‘34 ford. But not for road trips

just toodling around in a plaid is comfortable.

and knowing you are the quickest car on the road is a splendid feeling

    does it have soul?

    no

but it strips the soul from any ICE that challenges you at stop lights.

Last weekend at the car show in Alamosa, there were hundreds of cars that the owners put their heart and soul in. It's not always about who's fastest. It's much more than that. EV's have no soul. There's not a single EV on this planet that will ever strip the soul out of those gassers. That was the golden age. I'll take a 70 Malibu Chevelle SS or 70 Cuda 440 Magnum over any EV, any day.

Yup. When something becomes commonplace it's no longer novel or exciting. Look at flying. People lost their shit and airlines pulled out all the stops for it to be an experience of a lifetime. Now it's just Tuesday.
A 10 second 1/4 mile used to mean something, but now a 4 door family mobile does it on the regular. It's not special anymore.

    Agree

there is something special about old cars

I appreciate and indulge hot rods

I get waves, nods and thumbs up when I cruise mine

that piece of the soul remains

I speak of the competitive soul. The childish reckonings at stop lights that we all relish

When, you consider the performance aspect, it’s not fun when a model y can whoop a 600hp tundra

Well I'm about tired of messing around with the Shelby GT500's and the owners. I just don't feel like spending 60k or considerably more on a 10 year+ old car with limited options that handles like dog shit. These cars actually ride pretty good even in sport suspension setting. Probably a great touring car. I'll never find out.

Same with the Corvette. These cars are at least 11 years old and realistically more like 14-15 years old. I'm not willing to deal with a C7 and definitely do not want to afford a C8 Z06.

I'm going Tesla Performance. Tires be damned!!!

    IMG_5394.png

Just kidding. You know the EV guys in this thread were shocked. Get it? :D Probably fried a circuit.

Ok. All seriousness, I had to think about what is important to me:

Performance/handling/cost per smiles/comfort/reliable (realistic expectations here)

I do like the Shelby GT500, just not the bang for the buck. My buddy that let me drive his Shelby even said "if it was my money, I wouldn't buy a Shelby GT500. I would buy a SC Coyote Mustang GT and have a better handling/faster car."

I looked at imports and just can't do it.

Definitely do not want a Dodge hellcat anything.

That leaves me with Nike or Ford. I'll bite and do a little research.

Well the Ford GT isn't happening. Budget is about 700000.00 short. I tried...and even with a military discount.

The Mustang GT checks a lot of boxes:

The Roush stage 3 checks them all.

Ford performance SC is another route, but don't necessarily get all the braking/handling.

    IMG_5395.png IMG_5397.jpg IMG_5396.jpg

I'm going to start researching these cars.

The problem I have is you (speaking generically) didn’t earn that power or ability or right. You just bought it. No different from 20yrs ago when someone could buy a Ford GT or 911 gt and beat up on just about everyone. Sure it’s cool but all it showed was you had money so meh. When you build something to run a 9sec 1/4 or 700hp, that’s impressive. Just going out and buying a 9sec car? Meh.

That's the only thing a Y has over the Tundra performance aspect wise and for the vast majority of car owners, they could care less about who is the BMOC at stop light runs. Lol

Eh, I hate mechanic work, so any performance is going to be bolt on or bought. Doesn't bother me that others have more money and that equals a faster car. I just don't care about their cars being fast if they are EVs. It's just a different animal altogether.

I hear you. And agree on the building it thing

These cars you speak of are drag cars

    single purpose
    Barely road going

todays fast cars are generally bought. All of them

rarely do you see a built car. Like, super rare

FTR- I have both cars. Built and bought

    I love both

Why not go Coyote swapped and supercharged Foxbody?

Saw this at a local show. I’m not even a fan but took pictures because it was super clean.

True, but avoidance is the best option. Nobody with half a brain ever wants to have to use the CC. Absolute best case scenario it's going to be a headache and ruin a few days, not counting the need to mentally reconcile the taking of a life. Worst case it's years of hell and expensive beyond reason to prove the scumbag had it coming and you did nothing wrong.

I myself don't have a CC. Never been jacked or robbed at a gas station. But then again, I know my surroundings and don't buy gas in East LA or Compton.

And you drive a Frontier. Nobody wants one of those. :boink:

I don't generally carry around locally either. I know where I'm at and who is around, but I definitely have had the ol' pistola on me when I was travelling down to get the Taco in Texas and such. Only place that really felt sketch was a gas station in NM. Some guy was just not acting right after I had gotten out to put fuel in the Tundra, so I had my hand on it when I set the pump and then I just stayed in the truck until he left. He sat there for 20 minutes after my pump finished and I just kept my eyes on him until he left. Jumped out of the truck, hung up the pump, and popped smoke.

From the video footage I've seen, it's multiple targets trying to jack your car. Agreed, that's what a CCW is for.

Most people go through life without an issue...until it happens. Being aware of your surroundings and not being a jackwagon really helps with not becoming a target.

Seems the majority of carjackers in Denver Metro looking for a "work car" and often teenagers. Age, type, value rarely is considered. Easy marks are what is considered. Know your surroundings when sitting in a car. Don't sit in your car too long. You become an easy mark. Myself, I rarely ever drive downtown anymore. No reason to. Not unusual to get jacked by a loner too. Due diligence.
