These are probably total bullshit company names but I had good luck with Ainope and RAVpower.

Units from both were nice and stout, heavy, the Ainope had low light but nto enough to be distracting, the RAVPower, IIRC, has almost none. I never see it at night at least.

The randomness of the names kills me. Like, "Yeah, I got this here charger from FucBoiPlayToi and it's been great! Almost as good as the stuff from ABQPIRZEDSHITMAN!"

It's always absolutely generic words or random ass shit. Man.

EDIT: I know there's a reason for it an all that, copyright infringement avoidance or whatever, or ease of hiding or whatnot but still.

What the hell? I get on the highway to go down one exit and some masshole in front of me slows as the traffic picks up thinking I’m going to pass him on the left by jumping to the next lane with a semi-tractor trailer in it.

While he’s just sitting there not moving, I quickly hop into the breakdown lane and take the next exit and he speeds up thinking I’m going to pass him on the right. I flip him the bird and get off my exit.

What the fuck is wrong with some people? I did absolutely zero to offend this guy initially.

Unfortunately, it seems a number of us have turned into selfish, entitled dickheads in the last ~5ish years, best I can tell. The type of person who cares about nobody/nothing but themselves. We've lost a lot of our humanity, sadly.

A tiny percentage know they're now selfish pricks and advertise it, think it's some kind of "alpha" trait, or similarly elementary-school-level bullshit that's beyond the realms of absolute fucking stupidity. And they refuse to adjust their attitude because they're bitch ass snowflakes who can't be arsed to.

A larger majority are that way because of the asstards I just mentioned and/or they're in self-defense mode and/or feel like they suddenly need to be that way, a survival thing, because everything has gone to hell since roughly Q1/2020, life just changed, and we have a lot of undiagnosed PTSD.

Then there's the rest of us, who are stuck with both of the above, trying to be normal, live life like normal, go to work/school/etc., settle down, make it to retirement, and those other MFers, especially the smaller 1st bunch, are making it really damn hard because they're such selfish entitled idiots.

PS - I wish people would learn how to not be a dick. This sentiment that it's somehow "cool" to ignore the well-being/happiness of people around us. I feel like the mentality that you need to be on the defensive all the time is not only tiring, and will drive you totally nuts/make you into a rager, it's gotta go.

It’s primarily the reason I moved 5 miles from work after driving through the ‘big dig’ here from 1998-2005. I don’t think I could survive with a longer drive unless there was little traffic.

I know. I would see it so so much when I work for the landscaping company in the summers. The amount of people that would get pissed at us for tiny stuff was nuts. So many people assuming we were wronging them on purpose.

A guy got out of his car to scream at me at a red light a couple weeks ago. He was frighteningly angry. I almost felt bad for him- can you imagine what your mindset must be like to get that pissed?

Like, too many people think people are out to get them, to wrong them, to screw them over. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, so when something remotely hostile or offensive happens, no more "give the benefit of the doubt", straight to "Oh ima fuck this MF up!"

I definitely feel that way often. "What a piece of shit..." has come out of my mouth a number of times.

It was actually the kids who started pointing it out to us, when we were getting aggro. They definitely noticed the change. And they point out idiot drivers. I've probably got some crazy ass footage on the webcam right now.

I really need to get mine installed. Last week I had some asshole treating I-93 like a slalom course weaving in/out of traffic at 90+ mph in a VW golf GTI. He came within inches of clipping me. Had I even slightly stepped on the gas at the wrong time I would’ve clipped his back end.

My 250k?/unknown mile 4Runner went in for a tb this morning. I didn’t see it first hand but got sent some pictures. There is mx records about every 5k miles for brake flushes and oil changes but no record of a belt done.

water pump was leaking and she’s got a small rear main seal leak too. But it’s hard to believe that’s the stock belt after 20 yrs and almost 300k.

Children are some of the best observers. If you're ever unsure about something you did, or something you thought you did, ask your kids. My dad is a 4th grade teacher and I've worked with him a bit. I have crazy ADHD and I'm always noticing things that other people aren't. But I still miss tons of stuff that those 4th graders pick up.

I was 12? when my parents got divorced- but I knew it was coming, probably for two years. It was obvious to me before my parents even knew it. So crazy.

Think you can go head to head with James Earl Jones?

I used to work construction for years and years and years for my old youth leader. He would usually be playing his Old Testament on cassette tapes on the jobsite. After listening to it for weeks on end my buddy and i could just about recite the whole genealogy out of the book of Chronicles, from Adam, all the way to Jesus. I’ll have to call him up and ask if he still has all those cassette tapes. They must be at least 40 years old by now.

Congrats! Parenting is hard, but totally worth it. Watching your kid score a goal or pull a 5 lb bass out of a pond is about as good as it gets. And I second making sure you take care of yourself and your wife. Our second nearly sent me to the psych ward. Funny thing is, now he’s the easy one. Enjoy!

I overthink way too many things, but I decided not to do that with my oil changes. I go for full synthetic every 5k and call it a day. Maybe I’m wasting oil, but I know I’m not ruining my engine.

It’s really interesting watching my kids and trying to suss out what they understand and retain.

My friend’s 12 year old is very insightful though she shares through her parents who relay some to me.

My own kids at 7 and 9 probably aren’t quite there yet. Plus they are boys and the oldest, with his ADHD, is preoccupied with screens and video games.

Head to head with a dead guy eh?

That's classic boy vs. girl. That 12yo girl is thinking and operating at 15yo level. Your 7 and 9yo boy are operating at 4 and 6yo levels, respectively. Don't expect the boys to get there any sooner.

Have both. Can confirm. The stereotypes are there for a reason. It's so glaringly obvious now ours are both in middle school and I can see it in all the damn kids. 15%, maybe 20% are outliers or shades on the way out of that spectrum, but it's largely the norm.

Yup, I can relate to this at the soul level. Seriously. Only he's not the easy one now, still a PITA. Oldest hit puberty very early and I feel almost like she's on the downhill glide to being easier? Man, I hope the next couple years see a scale-back in difficulty. The first couple years of double digits has ultimately been a nightmare in comparison to the single-digit years. I think the prime ages for us were 4-7 or something. Only thing that sucked was them going to school, where you lose control over their influences, but it's also when they start to socially blossom and come out of their shell which is bittersweet.

Got a call yesterday about work in Cincinnati today. Not my job, but work I’m capable of doing (was my job prior to this one). They are short and needed help, no problem. Get the details about it. “Not confirmed but “80%” chance it happens. I explain how that means it will not happen usually (pretty much everytime). They request I come anyway. No problem. Fly out of the rock into @shifty` town (Delta) connecting into CVG. Sitting on the plane in ATL, they are about to close the door when the call comes in. Work thing is cancelled. Surprised face. Jump off the plane just in time. Book a flight back home. If only we could have predicted this….

samesies. Since my truck idles a lot. I did some research I think it was some 30 miles per hour of idle. So 8ish hours of idle is 240miles a day. For 5 days a week is 1200miles a week. So I go about 5-6weeks in between oil changes. It's keeps me around 6-7200miles.

These last few months I've been working on cleaning it up though. So it's had a few treatments and MUCH sooner oil changes. I think I did 3x 3 weeks with sea foam in the crank case 2x and BG 44k 2x. And I had been using the Valvoline Restore and Protect.

this last week was number 3 and the oil came out darker but with a light going through it the oil was a nice dark amber color and in general looked super clean

now I can chill a bit and go off the 4.5-6week intervals and have some peace of mind things are clean.
