I am new here so I'll introduce myself. I'm a Firefighter and Paramedic in Northern Virginia and I currently own my second Tundra, a 2022 TRD Off Road SR5. I formerly had a 2011 that I absolutely loved. I put almost 200,000 miles on that truck and still did very well on the trade. A brief stint with a tacoma (2nd one of those) made it clear I needed another Tundra. As soon as I saw the new line introduced, I was set. I bought one of the first three Tundras to make it to market in Northern Virginia. It was New Year's Eve 2021 - 2022. I am, once again, in love. Some minor mods (exhaust, cool air intake, tires) have definitely improved on an already great truck and I am expecting a throttle control module tomorrow. My only issue is the wear I have experienced on one interior trim piece. (well that and the wind noise which I feel is excessive). Just curious if anyone else has experienced the same. The plastic trim around the driver's side power seat controls has cracked pretty significantly in two separate places (see photo). I'm not the smallest of men but I do try not to slide in and out of the truck so much as I also don't want excessive wear on the leather seat covers. I'm not sure if it is a lack of quality on the trim piece or just something that is happening across the board with this particular truck? Has anyone else experienced this? Would it likely be covered by warranty? Any advice is appreciated and thanks for the welcome to the community!

Some of us added running boards so you can step up and out saving wear and tear on the seats.

Thanks for the heads up. Glad to know I’m not the only one experiencing this. Should help my case to get it replaced.

My experience as well and the new one seems stronger, at least it has gone 10k no breaking while the other one was broken by 8k.

I have the same exact issue. My local dealer said no, that it was normal wear and tear. That spun me into some kind of mad so I actually have an appointment with the dealer I bought it from tomorrow. Wish me luck

I have a 2022 Tundra and have experienced the same thing, the driver's plastic cover cracked in the same place, I went to World Toyota in Atlanta GA and they refused to warrant the part, I have 20K on the vehicle and they said it's not a design flaw on their part, I was furious and contacted Toyota Customer Care and although World Toyota in Atlanta refused to cover the part, Toyota Customer Care said they would reimburse me 100% of the part once it's installed

Yes, When you request to speak to the Director of the World Service Department, and he sends a message with a service tech, that I do not want to talk to you, three times, yes that's my handle, this is truly a defect on Toyota and they refuse to correct the issue

Been a lot of dealer turnover during COVID period mostly consolidation by medium or large dealer groups. Recent trend is to name dealership "Toyota of City X" instead of owners name. That can turnover behind the scenes and you never know it. My local Toyo dealer I use for service turned over and they made it clear spending money with the previous ownership did not get you any favor with new one.

My driver side plastic piece cracked about 3 weeks ago. Photo is below. I have sent an email to the dealership to see what they will do.
    We shall see.

My Toyota dealer here in the Phx area gave me no issues replacing the seat panel on both mine and my son's truck. Yes, they both cracked with less than 10K miles. My son said the new piece feels more substantial to him, but it feels like the same crappy plastic as the last piece to me, so we shall see.

Reminds me of my gen2 2013 tacoma & the cracked arm rest of the drivers door panel...
Pretty common issue on the gen2 tacomas

Toyota interiors have always been delicate

I have a 2022 tundra with 108k miles on it
No busted plastic seat trim on mine
    No running boards btw
I weigh 135 & I am super careful getting in & out of all autos

It's interesting how the break is nearly identical in location & shape from all affected owners.....toyota could do a lot better on their interior quality, longevity & making it easier/cheaper to replace commen wear/tear points....I personally would love easy to replace b pillar covers, so after an asshole gets in my ride & trashes my b pillar with the seat belt, I can quickly & cheaply repair the damage....same thing with all the door thresholds, should be made more durable & easy to replace.....folks need to stop stepping on thresholds!

    Lol....thanks for your concern
    I was actually 115 in July 2023!
Almost died, couldn't drink water, ended up in the ER & they filled me up with 2 liters of fluid
    Saved my life
Gained back 20 pounds in the last 12 months
So im happy to be at least 135 atm
Hope to get up to 145 by summer of 2025
    But will settle for 140

    Backstory-
I was 150 during the summer of 2022
But later that year my acute gastritis turned into permanent gastritis & I lost 25% of my body weight....got an endoscopy performed around 9 months ago & I finally figured out my health issue GASTRITIS! luckily no ulcers
Had to change up my diet, how much & when I eat & need to take magnesium & digestive enzymes

This state of life sucks honestly
    I am slowly healing
But it's painfully slow & unpredictable
I don't think my life will ever return back to 'normal'
The stomach is a delicate yet powerful organ
    Mine is f'ed

    Sorry to hijack the thread
    Now back to broken seats
    HA!

Try to avoid microwave foods and make own or buy raw SK and eat at least an ounce daily with meals ...
