My decked is waterproof (Legacy, V1). I have a shell now, but routinely power wash inside the cap without any water intrusion into the drawers or the ammo boxes

We’ve got a 2017 4Runner on its 3rd battery and am on my 2nd battery in the Tundra. It’s about 3 yrs old so it has reached old age. Pure dumb luck that all of these crapped out in my driveway. So got a little insurance.

I like it but there are some things to look for on the install and use.
1.There are 2 different wire harnesses but only one has the correct plugs depending on the year model of your truck.Mine is a 2020 SR5 . Several YouTube videos out there to help
2.Connect the Dasaita harness to the OEM harness first then to the head unit
3.Make sure the canbus is connected to the harness you are using
4.If you plan on using any of the apps go ahead and plug in the sim card cable with holder for a SIM card
5.Plug in the external mic and find a location to your liking to place it
6.After installation and you start setting up the unit make sure to raise the volumes in the factory settings for the mic and radio
7.Make sure to use US2 for the geographic location. My radio wouldn't work on US1in factory settings
8.I located the GPS antenna and 4G antenna under the dash and it works fine
The unit looks OEM and it takes a little time to get things figured out but it's worth it so far PXL_20240901_013547856.jpg

My wife has a work truck so her GX460 doesn't get a lot of use, it lives on a battery tender. 3 years, no problem.

I think it’s just the heat - also a couple of those were the original Toyota batteries

I agree. We are told to watch our oil and coolant levels, but no one checks their electrolyte in the battery.

I think manufacturers want to reduce risk of getting battery acid in your eyes, so not much emphasis is spent on that check.

    Interesting fact:

Many bottled waters are as pure as distilled water. That bottled water can be used to top off the battery.

Put in the air intake accelerator yesterday. Could tell during my commute it felt a little more snappier, which could just be me, but I’m happy. IMG_4563.jpg

Psssh. Best I’ve seen is 14 and usually 12.2. If I didn’t have deer I’d ditch these bumpers.

I haven’t paid much attention to my MPG, but I know I’ve been sitting around 11-12. 10 if I get too happy with the exhaust, Stillen, and accelerator

Tonneau covers are one of my least favorite modifications to a truck. I went through multiple on my Tacoma. Unfortunately, that experience taught me that the quality of many covers is declining due to industry consolidation (Realtruck basically owns everything now). I've therefore decided that at the high prices these things command, it's best to either:
    (1) Go all in on a cap or something like a Diamondback
    (2) Buy a cheap roll up from Amazon
    (3) Find something used

In this case, I went with option (3). I found an Ultraflex tonneau for ~$300 on Facebook marketplace. It's a bit worn, but I appreciate the slightly better security a hard trifold offers.

    IMG_4783.HEIC.jpg

I was surprised that the cover doesn't lean against the cab like the Bakflip models. I think I like this solution better.
    IMG_4785.HEIC.jpg

This cover leaves the OEM rails in place and so the moveable tie downs are incompatible with it. I'll probably pick up something like the billet tie down system at some point.
    IMG_4784.HEIC.jpg

In all, I can't complain too much for what I paid for the cover. I do believe the solid trifolds are too expensive for what they offer these days - if you're in the market, buy used! Long term I'll probably pick up a Diamondback or a Retrax, but this will work for now.

    Tonneau cover: installed

I am SO GLAD you posted an awesome picture of which hose to use for the bypass. As soon as I saw the wire loom on your bypass hose I knew you used the shorter hose; I used the longer hose with no wire loom and I had to tuck the extra hose up underneath the throttle body so it wouldn't hit the fan. I just now swapped the long hose out for the shorter, wire-loomed hose (took about 5 minutes, I didn't have to remove the throttle body since I have some long needle-nose pliers, and luckily the hose clamps were facing upwards ), and it's a perfect fit. Thanks again!

Got a new set of tires today..... for the Jeep.
The Tundra would look great with them. But it would require a ton of $$$$ to fit 38.5 x 14.5 tires on it. Plus the Jeep only has 15" wheels so there will be no swapping them around.

Love those tires. Had a set of 38's that I grooved on my rock crawler, until I went with a set of bfg reds.

Replaced the rear drivers side door lock actuator motor. I've got a warranty but I despise dealers so I bought the motor for $11 and did it myself. I've done several before on some of my Land Cruisers so had a bit of a head start.

Took her to Pismo beach with the pup to test out the new rear King shocks. I was able to be at full speed most of the time and everything was smooth as butter (I may have been airborne once or twice). Got her home and after a Turtle Wax spray wax, she got a Beadmaker treatment.
