Bummer about the total loss for lack of a bumper.
if it's me, I go Crown and maybe an LC later.

I may end up doing exactly that.

The 2015 SS was more of a want for me, and was frankly completely wasted on my wife. She doesn’t like to drive fast, is terrified of cornering hard and will slow down for sweeping turns on an interstate highway.

She is perfectly well served with a nice transportation appliance. No more interesting vehicles for her because they cost more money and all that mechanical goodness an enthusiast would appreciate is lost on her.

We are both off tomorrow, and will head up to Rapid City to test drive a Mazda CX90 after she finishes a 2nd round job interview. She has reached the point at her current employer where there’s no more room to advance and compensation is no longer commensurate with how much extra stuff she’s taken on. I have a feeling that her boss is about to have a 5 alarm fire on her hands this time next week. Good.

I think the CX90's are very, very nice. I drove one about 6 months ago. Best in class interior and a good balance of technology.

I like me new Ram very much. So far have not had any problems. :) it is so much nicer on the inside than the Tundra, and the ride is nice and smooth.

Glad to hear some more positives input on this topic, I've had my Capstone for 16 months and now with 18K on it.The only dash cluster warning was Air spoiler that was fixed quickly.
    And the minor stupid recalls.

This has been the best brand new vehicle I have ever purchased, this thing is slicker than shit on the HWY in comfort mode and a raped ape in Tow+ mode at the gate.

I agree with alot that has been mentioned in previous pages here with the plastic and all, this has been my biggest and only pet pev,but this is the "norm" on all vehicles.
Not every brand new item will be perfect when it comes off the production line and I'm not just talking about vehicles.

I've had my 24 Capstone for six months now. Every time I drive it, I marvel at how smooth and quiet this thing is. Blows away the F150s I've been driving for the past ten years. I must admit, the seat belt chime is the only thing that bugs the hell out of me. I know you can turn it off with Carista, just have been trying to get in the habit of buckling up right away and ignoring it as best I can. No problems at all so far.

I couldn't care less if I lost 90% of anyone. That's not what I'm here for. Ive had 2 2gens and 1 1gen and a t100. You keep probing. I gave you an honest answer.
I gave you toyota production engines with full reliability over decades. Yet you still try to liken it to a nonsense formula engine.
You must not remember the release of the 2 gen, because it was called archaic even then. I loved both of my 2 gen tundras, they're great trucks. This one is better, and not in a ivory tower way. Factually it's better.
Turning radius is negligible. People who say otherwise bought a longer truck. Were talking maybe 21 feet vs 22 feet.
Keep defending all you want. I've owned both now and I can firmly tell you they didn't touch what I'm in now. Tech, power, comfort. How about a crewmax with a 6.5 foot bed? Show me your 2gen with that?

Oh and your argument about why are they putting the "better engines" outside the us. Cost. It's purely cost. It's cheaper to put a v8 in there than reinforce a turbo engine and add turbos and all their fixins. Be logical. Why don't they use formula engines in a car, cost. Be logical. If you could yield a torque riddled 2k hp engine from a half liter and it was a cheap as a v8 they'd prefer the .5l

Keep trying, and I appreciate your biased approach but I'm a testament to having had every truck offered. Imagine thinking toyota spent millions in R&D to have a less capable truck. Oh and really world contractor mileage. I'm getting 16mpg everywhere. Had 20 on the hwy. Had 13 jamming the pedal. Towing my 8500lb trailer I got 13.5 through the back roads. In my 2 gens I got 7-9. It's not even a contest. Lifted and fat tire morons will complain, that's cause they don't understand how much that effects the mileage

I love these posts. The fluidity with which you dance between the objective and subjective here is remarkable. Are you on a city council somewhere?
"3rd Gen beats 2nd Gen in torque, HP, MPGs, technology!! It's on paper, and in my experience because I've owned them all!"
"Right but turning radius is worse, payload is practically unchanged, and the bed holds less volume than previous Gen, outside dimensions are larger but inside dimensions are smaller; on paper, and in users' experiences"
"I'm a contractor. All of that crap is negligible. Harrumph!!"

This is because Range Rover, Corvette, and Porsche owners are assholes in their own right.
It doesn't matter what Gen or year model the vehicle may be..

Tundra owners have always had an inferiority complex with the big 3. They finally found their place in the world with a reliable v8…the 3rd gen seems to have set back all their forward progress.

I have had mine for about 2 years now - and never had a problem. Twice i got issues with some sensor warning after wash but got self resolved.
For a truck - I find it incredibly smooth and surprised by how quick it is.

Anyways - not questioning your bad experience - just saying that mine has been awesome.

Test drove one today, not a top trim level I think it was a Turbo Select or something like that. Very impressive for the money, the base 280hp model needs more power though.

Now to hunt down a CPO 2024 CX-90 Turbo S Premium Plus. I’ve seen a few for sale in Colorado in the $47-$48K range with under 10K miles.

Got official word today that our 2015 SS is in fact totaled. Driven it since new in June 2015, 65,000 miles on the odometer; paid $46,600 for it. Insurance is paying out on a fair market value of $37,596 minus $1000 for the deductible, so $36,596.

Everyone crows about Toyota resale value on here, well guys and gals I just had a Chevrolet hold 78% of its value (80% if I don’t subtract the insurance deductible!) after over 9 years and 65,000 miles. Contemplate that one for a moment!

do the 'big 3' still have V8s? I thought most of them went to turbo-V6s.

I am old school: no replacement for displacement....but it is getting harder and harder to find a truck with a V8 that is not priced over 90k. Well, a nice truck.

When I was considering a Raptor or F-150 Tremor purchase, I'd have to say that the 'generational' differences and shit talking was very prevalent in the Raptor world... 'First gen Raptors are the only ones that were truly built by SVT'; 'they're the only ones w/V8s'; 'my FGR will go anywhere and do anything a newer gen would but better and not break down'; cam phaser recalls, etc, etc....

    All the same...

I'm happy that you new gen guys have the money to enjoy the tech goodies. We're Sequoia people that enjoy the fulltime 4WD and don't need superduper tech. If the newer gens don't get much better mpg at high altitude there's no good reason to sink cash into one, especially because there is no fulltime 4WD available, that goes for both Tundra and Sequoia 3Gs. In a Colorado winter fulltime 4WD tops dashboard tech.

Funny, I was thinking that a Crown Signia may be in my future as I like it & just keep the Tundra. The car care nut's review put me over the top for it. A 35mpg station wagon (4 door hatchback?) with everything in it proven reliable and relatively easy to work on plus Lexus level quality made in Japan.
