Any updates on where and how to disable said antennas? :)

I played the games being played above over the past few weeks as well, with the same people, while trying to make the same case, for the same reason the OP did. Not interested in anything other than how to disable Toyota's ability to access MY vehicle.

Search LexisNexis. Run your own report. Go ahead, I'll wait.

This is one of the companies they call a "Data Broker." They buy your personal information to then sell to other companies. This is one of the Third Party vendors all of the terms of service refer to.

The way I understand it everything can be disabled but as soon as you connect a phone via Bluetooth or Android Auto, the connection is re-established and your data is transferred on your dime. Toyota probably loves this since your data plan is being used instead of theirs.

While we’re on the subject, what happens when I decline the terms to use the updated Toyota app?

from what i have read, unless you physically dis-connect the antennae toyota will still send some data back if you even decline the connected services. if it cant send data back via the antennae, as soon as it see's your phone (if paired) it will send the data via your phone.

I see. But that would imply a way to stop such transmission of data by disconnecting or switching off the phone (assuming the OEM antennas are disconnected). Furthermore, would taking out the DCM fuse disable this process too at the vehicle end?

I did not follow the man's career as I didn't generally enjoy anything he was in. Good or bad person, I don't know, but the dark humor memes are pretty solid. I default to dark humor 90% of the time. When I die, I hope people can have a laugh.

You will NOT be able to use the remote start on your key FOB. Trust me, I learned the hard way, but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make.

I'm not aware of sending data through your phone if the antenna is disconnected, but I know that even when you decline the Connected Services Master Data Consent, the roadside service is still available, so they are still most likely tracking your truck as well as gathering data.

i may have mis-read the screen, but when i had to update the app, i read thru the connected services jargon and it said something along those lines. i cant get it come back up to re-read though.

Roadside service may depend on a phone call, a lengthy hold, and then a long wait for them to come get you after you tell them the location verbally. Perhaps?

I try to avoid funerals; they are usually no fun - like somebody sucked the life out of the room..

Ok, it's really because I get dirty looks from people while I'm cracking jokes and smiling. Except at my grandma's funeral - I was one of the least boisterous souls there. If she hadn't already passed, I'm sure she laughed herself to death.

Anyhows... SOMEBODY GO DISCONNECT SOME ANTENNAE WIRES ALREADY! The suspense is killing me!

Didn't we have a thread about someone completely removing their shark fin about a year ago so their truck would fit through their garage door??

There's gotta be some data out there already...

Yeah it was 2.5... depending on the year though, it would still have all the satelite and wi-fi crap running through the shark fin

Not sure on Paul, but that was a solid deathtrap ..the video was up on yt before being pulled. Sad to see it. Now whistleblowers Isaac Kappy and Brandy Vaughan were (are) very suspect and both were keeping public aware and still got whacked.

Apparently you can opt out of all data collection. I just did this by not agreeing to the terms and conditions that the Toyota phone app wanted me to agree to. I received this e-mail from Toyota:

    "
Per your request, you have waived your Connected Services by Toyota.

Your vehicle is no longer transmitting location, driving, and vehicle health data to Toyota. Without the transmission of your vehicle's data, you acknowledge we are unable to provide Connected Services. The following services will not function in your vehicle: Safety Connect (which includes Automatic Collision Notification, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, emergency and stolen vehicle assistance), Remote Connect, Service Connect, Drive Connect, and Wi-Fi Connect.

If you would like to re-enroll in your vehicle’s Connected Services, please visit the Data Privacy Portal located in the Toyota app, or for any questions please contact the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.

    Sincerely,
    Connected Services by Toyota "
