Looking at a new 1794 4x4(demo-7800 miles) with sticker of 72k. The OTD price is 64k. Good deal?
It has a 6.5’ bed which I like better than 5.5’. Although may not be as desirable at resale. Thoughts on price and bed?

I think that's personally a terrible price. Saw a guy today on Reddit that bought a brand new 2024 1794 w/ TRD OR package with 0 miles for $65k. It had the 5.5' bed, but can't imagine the 6.5' bed is worth paying essentially the same price for a lesser trimmed truck with 8k miles on it

Doesn't seem like a good deal to me. A truck with 7800 miles probably sloppy seconds from some sales manager mobbing around in it who doesn't give a shit. Have you looked at any brand new ones? It's not hard to get 8k or so off the sticker of a brand new one, possibly more.

The unknowns with respect to who drove/ how was it driven on a "demo" gen 3 would give me pause. If you like it, I would negotiate either lower OTD price and a service (oil change, etc; before taking the vehicle if one wasn't done at 5k. Or an extended warranty at no cost and a service.

I'm with Medicineman - we all know what Everyone wants to do on a demo - nothing but hammering that throttle - especially if the salesman doesn't come along.

Hopefully they did hammer the throttle, I’ve always heard a drive it like you stole it break in is better than a grandma break in. It’s engineered so you can’t really hurt it even if you drive around redlining every gear, can’t wear it out that much in 7800 miles.
8k drive out is more like what, 12k off including tt&l? Not a terrible price but 60-62 drive out is prolly better.

Bed is cool with it being a 6.5 Needed? Depends on your needs. I have a 1794 with a 5.5 bed. I paid 64k plus taxes etc for it with my ass being the first driver. (0 miles)

You got close to 8k hard miles and they are going to leave you with an extended warranty or the remainder of the factory warranty?

Extended warranty etc might be getting into the 64k mark. OTD
If the remainder of the factory warranty.... 62 - 60k OTD

Don’t buy a demo, sales manager probably drove it, never washed inside or outside of it. Wore their sweaty gym clothes in it, fast food all over the interior. I worked at a dealer I know.

I would take it for 20k off, not a penny less. Otherwise go down the road and take 8-10k off any Tundra you want and be the first driver. These trucks aren't rare, they aren't limited and they are on SALE all over the country.

As a frame of reference, I bought a dealer demo 2023 2WD Tundra limited with more or less all the options, with 4500 miles on it for 53K out the door including delivery to Houston from Dallas. At the time, that was lowest cost "New" or used limited Tundra with less than 10k miles within 250 miles of me.

You do need to consider the fact you won't be getting 3 years / 36000 miles from the date of purchase worth of warranty. You will get 3 years minus the date the dealer put in service and 36000 miles minus the milage already on the vehicle at the time of purchase. e.g. if you buy the truck today with 5K miles and the it was put in service as a dealer demo on 10/11/2023, you would have 2 years and 31K miles worth of warranty left. Before you do purchase the truck, get written confirmation of the in-service date from the dealership so you can fully understand the warranty remaining. If I were to go through the process again, I would have asked for the documented in service data, and an extended warranty to make up for the loss of coverage.

no one is giving $20k off lol...I paid $60k for my 1794 6000mile demo 23. OP said out the doors so if that's including tax tags doc fee $65k is reasonable on a $72k msrp. In NJ $4000 in tax and tags is typical so we need to know if $65k is truly all in.

many times you can get a certified pre owned warranty with toyota to extend coverage, that would influence my decision.

which is why I wouldn't buy it. He can get close to the same price around me, on a brand new one. I am not the only place in the country where that's true.

I’ve bought 2 3rd gens. Never had engine problems with either one.

But I would wait for the engine tsb fix and buy new after that.

i don’t even like bringing my vehicles in for an oil change. Much less have a dealership teardown the front of the truck to get to the engine.

Yeah - not a good price unless it is truly walking out the door and includes tax, title, etc. Should be at least 20% off retail with that many miles on it. Mine was new when I bought in June. 1794 CrewMax with 5.5 bed and standard twin-turbo (not iforce max version) and included TRD OR package for $65k before taxes and title.

So unless it includes the iforce max engine, i wouldnt touch that for that price especially given how important that first thousand miles is in how its driven. You never know how previous drivers treated it during break-in period

Not too bad if it's a hybrid, and assuming it is with a 72k original msrp.

Should be $15k+ off sticker imo

Brand new units were being let go for 12k off MSRP a few months back - even before the pressure of having 2 model year trucks on same lot 25 and 24.

You should easily get 3-5k+ more off cuz of used/miles imo

Ask for the 100,000 mile Toyota certified used car warranty. I bought a similar mileage truck with exactly the same story 2 years ago and got that. I have had 0 problems and have 53k on it now. Of course then it was really hard to get a truck, now, they are everywhere. If I had the opportunity to get a new one at a similar price, I would get a new one.

Demo vehicles aren't sold as used. They are sold as new since they have never been titled. Gotta ask for the new car platinum warranty.

These trucks have gone so high in price. But I would look around. My local dealership is sitting on like 50 3 gen tundra’s and they don’t seem to be moving all that quick

Yes that is correct, but the warranty they gave me says it’s a certified used car warranty backed by Toyota Corp. IDK

With one dealer the GM drove a capstone. He let me test drive it. Cigarette ashes all over the place and a general mess. Nice for one of the most expensive trim levels. Dont think the gm gave a cr*p
