In Texas we have a bumper sticker that says “Don’t California my Texas”. With that said most cali transplants I have met are totally fine. Funny I met guy earlier this year who lived in Lake Tahoe and moved to Allen (basic Texas suburbia town). I was surprised and he basically said he couldn't get out of there fast enough. Everyone has their reasons.

I realized today why buying angus certified steak makes a difference. My supermarket New York sirloin boneless strip steak special had kind of a rubbery texture. Never the case with the angus certified stuff.

I’m sure guys from TX are reading this wondering how any choice cut steak could taste bad. Must be a foreign concept there. :burp:

We have only one local market and thus have to suffer with their poor beef... Sous vide has been my aide to tender, cheap steaks.

Who are the welders, fabricators, and metal workers among us? I have a severely cracked and fatigued door where the door check passes thru and wanted to include them for input when posting with pics later.

I know about Jake Jake but wasn't sure about others who might have ideas on a fix.

One of the first gen tundra retailers sells a laser cut kit of reinforcement plates. Cant remember which one at the moment. I plan on cutting something similar when I get into bodywork.

I realized recently that not only are mine fatigued and cracked to hell, but the checks themselves are also excessively worn. Who knows where that rabbit hole will lead to.

On the subject of doors. I always thought umbrella holders in luxury cars were a classy detail. I like getting rained on though.

I just fixed the door on my friend's 2005 Tacoma a couple weeks ago. I couldn't find a replacement repair plate, and by buddy is cheap enough he'd rather burn up 6 hours of both our time (12 hours total for the both of us) by me having to fabricate the plate myself. I happened to luck out and find a heavy gauge Simpson hanger in my shop that was pretty much the perfect shape. It still took a while to measure, cut, and fit the piece so it was fit exactly. I was just trying to get the job done since there was no glory in it for me, so i didn't take any pics. I don't mind fixing friends shtuffs, but it is a bit frustrating to me if they want something fixed right before they plan to sell a vehicle.

The upper and more "off-road focused" trims are coil springs in the rear now. Base and SR5 still get leafs.

I mean, I wouldn't be mad at that, as long as I don't lose my hauling abilities.

Speaking of loading down, if anyone is looking for NOS floor mats in beige or fawn or tan or whatever (hard to tell), there are two sets on fleaBay right now. Says for 2005-2006 for one of the two (and I verified with Toyota Parts deal, the years are right). Potentially for DC, dunno. Anyway...

Maybe, maybe not for offroad prowess flex. Ram introduced rear coil springs back in 2014 as an option for their 2500 trucks. My good buddy has it in the back of his 2019 Cummins. He does hotshot transporting for a living and he currently has over 650,000 on his 2019 truck alone! His is no better on or off the road. It all depends upon what the link suspension is designed for. Links do have the benefit of not having axle wrap, but it only a benefit if you’ve got axle wrap issues with whatever leaf springs that are currently installed. And my buddy is adamant that his next truck will be back to leaf springs.

I never really understood this. You have to fully open the door, and get most of your body out in the rain to get the umbrella out of the door pocket.

Sitting in the garage with half the driver side trim torn out while looking for my RS3000 ECU module. (I've got a second factory remote to program!) I did not see it above my gas pedal or anywhere in that vicinity. Didn't see the module behind the driver left kick panel. The glass break ECU is dangling above my emergency brake. I'm trying to remove the dash panel that holds the fog light switch and instrument dimmer dial t see if it's there, but I can't figure it out and don't want to break it. Help!

Noticed both my cv axles have started to sling grease after my recent trip to replace the tires. Is it worth replacing the entire cv axle or just the boots? Don’t think they’ve ever been replaced after 262km. Coincidentally happened a few hundred km’s after my Bilstein 5100/ome 84 upgrade giving me about a 1.5”-1.75” lift.

Nevermind. I managed to get myself flipped upside down, head first into the floorboard where I could see the wire coming off the backside of the alarm light. That wire travels up ABOVE the fuse box in the driver side kick panel. Am I going to have to remove the fuse box to get to the RS3000 ECU?
