    Weekend adjenda for the 06:

•Finally wire my ditch lights (it's only been 5+ years)
•Finally wire my compass mirror (it's only been 2+ years)
•Figure out why 1/4 of my LED pods stopped working. I just replaced 1 a few months ago. I have a spare, but I'm hoping it's just a wiring issue. If the pod is bad, I'll send it back to Desert Armor. Last time they sent me two new for one broken. Worth another shot, eh?
•I should probably figure out how to wire everything to a fuse block, so it's not a mess.

    I hate wiring.

Really fighting the urge to sell camper v1 and build v2 with everything I've learned.

Ignore the tacomaness here, just imagine that's a tundra.

I've seen a couple of these for sale lately for reasonable prices, but I can't afford anything for a quite a while. I used to think I wanted to cut one and put it on my Tacoma. But it'd be even better on the Tundra. They come up pretty cheap when they don't run. But of course the swap wouldn't be cheap.

Brother ewwww! No flapping canvas for me.

I love the old toyota campers, I always wanted to do a 5vz swap in one. Realistically though the tundra is a much better base chassis.

Production RV's are built with/like pure garbage too. My method produces a r-10 wall assembly that's completely impervious to water intrusion and damage. More boat or aircraft than camper

I built v1 to go in the back of my '79.

    Another beauty

Camping season is upon us. Not the time to sell unless you got a replacement ready to go. I assume you're coming to Hidden Falls for the post Thanksgiving run with us.

Big maybe. Staging tools and materials today to finally start the install of the stair project tomorrow. I've only got three working days before it rains for 5 days :rofl:hopefully Im a free man in about two weeks, but this project has been a monster every step of the way. Just trying to take things as they come.

She gone. Sold it to fund the tundra purchase.

Having lived in a camper 6 months of the year for the last 8 years, I can agree that campers are built like total crap. Even the good ones. Like almost everything, the older ones were more built to last than newer ones, but the craftsmanship is shoddy, if not completely absent, with all of them once you start peeking under the hood.

I personally really like the popup style. Low profile when you don't need it, but enough room to stand up when you do. I had the single-year "full size" Chinook and while I really appreciated the space (since I lived out of it for a while), I always figured once it was just for camping and extended travel, the popup style was what I'd prefer.

Looping back: Their support took a day to get back, but were cool as hell about the return, and are taking the part back, full refund, and covering shipping.

This is the 2nd time something problematic w/RockAuto, and both times they've handled it better than I anticipated. Won't count chickens before they're hatched, and I still need to order a replacement part to return locally and recoup some of my $$$, but I'm pleasantly surprised with RockAuto's support right now.

Here is the fob that works with the 02 AC LTD with RS3000 ECU. My local Toyota parts counter said this remote was used at one point as a replacement for the football shaped remotes. Note that its buttons are unlabeled and has only a nub on the top button. It is similar to the one for the 03 AC SR5, but smaller. Unlike this one, that fob has no red LED and the buttons are labeled "Lock" and "Unlock" and there is a red, square "Panic" button on the rear. Hope this helps.

@Sirfive Go to the RS3000 PDF manual here and scroll to the page labeled "Page 21" near the top right of the page. Near the top, under the heading REMOTE CONTROL PROGRAMMING, the second sentence says, "Additionally, the provided REMOTE CONTROL's top and bottom buttons can be programmed to operate another 1998 or 1999 model vehicles' RS3000 Security System..."

I've been looking for a thread that shows how to replace the bulb in the Fog Lamp push button switch on the dash. Can anyone recall if such a thread exists here?

I didn't realize until today that you built your camper. If you decide to build another, please please please please PLEASE document the build process for us. I LOVE fiberglass work.

First, I will point out that the remote for the 02 AC isn't even included in the array of remotes shown in that diagram. Second, some here may or may not recall that this 02 AC was a very early 2002 production where they were still using the much smaller front calipers from the 2001 year. So, it would not surprise me if they were also still using the RS3000 ECUs from 2001.

v2 needs a 1kz or 1hz. 1gz if you can live with loud pipes. Does hino or toyota make a trans with a PTO?

The closest I've ever gotten to a camper was my first car, a 1980 Toyota Corolla station wagon. I discovered that I could roll out my sleeping bag comfortably in the rear if I laid the back seat down. No more pup tents for me after that! Still I've always thought it would be cool to have something like a 1967 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper.

My uncle had one of these when I was a kid:
    92AyOyDY-xfK9jZXwxG-(edit).jpg

Not as cool as a '67 Westfalia but a hell of a lot more usable. I remember being jealous as a little kid, my cousins and my aunt/uncle would take it on road trips all over the country. I went with them once- it was so so much fun. It had a table on the inside and the back seat folded into a bed. It had well over 250k miles on it before it got too expensive to maintain.

I dont think i called it out loud, but i remember wanting to say something even before the leafspring measurment mishap. Which he handled with grace & talent. I just didnt understand how it wasnt gonna rub. However i was wrong about the campers drag causing front lift at speed. I expected him to carry a front wheel at 80, but beau & syd have no chill & jake tracked straight.
