Hey gang, I have been using the below sheet for a while now to forecast and track the cost of my build, and though I'd share it with the forum incase anyone else out there wanted to plan out their modifications or get an idea of what a build actually costs. I'll break down the columns below, but overall it's a pretty simple sheet that you can adjust however you see fit!

Modification (Column B) - Exactly what it says, assign a label to what the modification is and where it falls on the truck. I have Front Suspension, Rear Suspension, Armor, etc. Easy place to filter by what you want to see.
Manufacturer (Column C) - Who makes the thing you want to buy. It's good to get a few options from different manufacturers to help shop costs.
Vendor (Column D) - Who sells the thing you want to buy.
Specific Part (Column E) - The specific name of the part that you are looking at. Get as detailed as you want.
Price (Column F) - Exactly that, how much each mod is going to hurt.
Active Option (Y/N) (Column G) - This is a Yes or No column that will either omit or account the modification's price into the total price at the bottom of the sheet. If you want to see what your total cost is with or without a certain mod, you can either type in a Y or N to turn on or off that cost.
Purchased (Y/N) (Column H) - This column is where you track what you have purchased. If it is marked Y, then the price will populate in Column K and transfer to the Actual Cost Incurred.
Active Price (Column I) - If the active option column is marked Y, then this column will populate with the price of the modification and it will be added into the total at the bottom of the column. Conversely, if the cell is marked N, the Price will be omitted from the total.
Total Price Guess (Column J) - This is the Active Price column multiplied by 1.10 (10% added) to roughly account for tax and shipping. Adjust accordingly for your location depending on how much tax you are charged on your purchases.
Actual Cost Incurred (Column K) - This column tracks what costs you have actually incurred while enjoying the modification process. If the Purchased (Y/N) column (H) is marked Y, then the dollar value shown in the Price column will automatically populate into this column. Depending on how accurate your research is, the auto-population may be accurate, or you can override the formula and simply type in the dollar value that you spent. This is especially nice when you saved some compared to your forecasted price. I highly recommend hiding this column if you plan to share this sheet with your spouse :D

See the below screenshot showing what you can expect to see in the sheet and feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions! This sheet can obliviously be adapted for any generation Tundra or whatever truck you have, I'm just posting it in the 2.5 Gen section because that's the truck I have. Oh, and there's a tire comparison sheet in the workbook that I built to compare the stats of some popular options for our trucks. Enjoy!

One of my Taco fiend buddy actually did this, with his Civic Type R and Taco and now Subbie OB.
It does run the tab high at first but then around a year it kinda flats out due to you sorta ran out of stuff to do, the sell, buy, mod, rinse and repeat.

Shit I wish I could do my build in a year! I’m on the slow and steady train right now, but I feel the time between mods just builds excitement

Don't get me wrong, he also takes his time doing it, but he tends to lose interest in a car faster than he can enjoy it.
His Type R was a beast, then COVID hit, in 3 years he had it, I think he barely broke 4500 miles on it. He went into CarMax with a friend who's selling and CarMax was like, you want your Type R offered just for giggles? So they offer him more than what he paid for 3 years ago, tax and titles included. He went home and took off all the aftermarket parts and sold the car and pocket the cash. Sold most of the aftermarket parts, too.
His Taco was slower, but doing what he wanted to do, end up leveling it and lights (he's a big light guy) but it became his side gig truck, hauling lawn mowers and shit.... I don't even see that car coming to work ever now.
Then he went and got a Subbie OB Wildness, nice small car and he racked up close to 5000 miles in 6 months, then he alternates OB with his old-ass 22 year old Civic beater some days....
He is one of those that would do most of the stuff himself, and so his spreadsheet would have cost of parts/things, and another tab of when stuff was done, oil change/belt/suspension/whatever.....

I personally just don't want to see the total number, cause if found, my Mrs. would just throw me off a bridge for the sharks to share..... forget the 6 ft hole, too slow....lol

I do wish, though, that I keep a record of maintenance I did myself, which is quite a bit at this point.
But now half way through I am just getting lazy and getting hurt ain't helping either.

Damn that’s a sweet deal on the civic! I’m lucky, I have the green light from the Mrs to spend money on the truck, just wisely at that. Wheelin has become a really fun family activity for us, so it’s well justified. That’s what started the tracking, trying the build the most capable truck I can while being conscious of outgoing funds. Still painful at times without a doubt lol

what was even wilder was that CarMax listed the Civic Type R three days later, adding additional $5K and it was sold/booked for within 48 hours (my fiend asked the CarMax when he went there for something else)
My Mrs is fine with me spending, but only what is necessary. Tires (OEM was loud as hell and she hated it, but then it broke so back to OEM for a bit until I can find a good deal on a set), lights (I brought a LED lightbar for lower bumper from HotShot Offroad and it sat in my garage for 2+ years before I give up and had my fiend install it for me while I was on a trip out. Other small stuff (LED headlights, LED bulbs for rear lights and all that) was done discrete, but she's kinda express concern that she wants me to focus the fund on the next house, which I will have to agree.
One last thing I do want to do, other than a new set of rubber, is leveling the front end, but that can wait, it is not like the truck suspension is failing right now....

    We’re certainly alike lol

I have an extremely detailed spreadsheet for all my maintenance as well as every single mod and thing done to the truck. I left out pricing to make myself feel better but I have a folder with receipts for everything I didn't buy second hand in case I ever need it for insurance.

Heck yeah, nice man! I need to be better about logging my maintenance. I started to in the third post of my build thread just for kicks, but I know there’s stuff I’m forgetting that would have been good to document. Oh well, better late than never
