    Cooked my brake fluid coming down the Cerro Gordo mine trail yesterday and got stuck half way down until dark until things cooled down. I need to uprade rotors, pads, fluid and some ss lines. Please share your sources and experiences. Thanks

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
    So you Were using the transmission to Slow down Along with the Brakes - Right? Won't really work any other way...

    Yes, but very careful as my water temp shoots up when I engine brake.

    If your budget allows for it, jumping up to a Powerbrake kit is a massive upgrade over stock. They also have pad/rotor upgrades that aren't quite as big, but still a solid upgrade over stock.

    Alcon kit as you’ve seen on the other thread. Front and rear option which is a significant difference.

    Do you have a link? What comes in the kit?
    SS lines? Would prefer Hawk pads with some slotted rotors and high temp fluid

    if you’re having braking issues with your current setup you may want to shift that budget before adding more weight lol

    True, but I think there are other options without having to replace the caliper and more budget friendly.

    This. OE replacements will have their limits… they’re a slight upgrade. With all of the added weight of mods rotor size and calipers will be the safest and best choice, just not wallet friendly.

    It’s physics. The oem setup is limited by material mass and other factors. An oe setup isn’t the way unfortunately when adding a ton of weight. Sure you can band aid the problem but the problem still there.

    Does Alcon kit work with the 17" wheels?
    My drives are mostly slow and steady and I still think high temp fluid with much better pads, vented rotors and SS lines will be a massive improvement over OEM.

    Brake fluid should at least be DOT4 instead of the stock Toyota DOT3. Boiling points are higher. A racing DOT4 fluid may even be more beneficial, with the downside that you'll need to replace the fluid yearly. Motul 600, Amsoil Dominator, etc -- lots of choices to get a higher boiling point.

    I use motul 600 in my other cars and don't mind replacing it annually. Good call.

    This is very strange... I've been up Cerro Gordo in my 21 Pro a few times and I always come down in 4 Wheel Low so I can stay off the brakes and never noticed engine temp climbing...

    As @reywcms said...Pads, lines, and rotors are not going to make any difference in braking capacity. Regardless, anyone who is braking the whole way down CG is going to overheat brakes, even with massive upgrades. Our trucks are heavy bitches...
