one more trick - on the Home Depot deals where you buy a tool and then add a free <tool or battery> to your cart, the way that HD actually prices it is that the amount of discount of the combined price is distributed to the two individual items on the receipt. For example the Forge 12.0 battery with a free Forge 8.0 battery actually works out in your cart like this:
    upload_2024-11-9_15-3-23.png

Now, you have to actually buy the two items together to get the deal, but you can return one of the items immediately after you pick it up and they will credit you that amount to your payment method.

I've used this hack a lot - once you have enough batteries, or if the deal includes a tool you already have as the freebie, you can use it to at least get the other tool for ~40%-50% off.

The key to remember is it only works on the items where you have to select the second item and 'add both to cart' - if the listing already has the two items bundled as one, then I've seen this hack not work.

There's two leafblowers (big and small), string trimmer, circular saw and plate saw not in these pics.

    You just wait
So all you do is have it shipped to the store and then when you pick up your order you just say you change your mind on one of the items and they send the funds back to your method of payment?

That is alot to take in my friend. Thank you.

I'm just gonna post up in here when I'm looking for a specific tool and see where the cheapest place to get it is :D

In regards to finding Milwaukee tools for cheap, does anybody know how these OfferUp and FB marketplace sellers are getting and selling their Milwaukee(and other) tools at such a huge discounted price? I'm almost tempted sometimes to buy from them only because the price is so low. I'll admit, I did buy one tool from one of them and it perfectly packaged and brand new out of the box. Are these guys buying pallets or what's the deal? It's almost like the black market of power tools. I feel like I'm participating in a shady back alley deal:spy:

Wait, that's supposed to be a leaf blower? I use it to blow out the shop. The leaf blower is a backpack unit. :)

That's what I'm always thinking too. These guys are selling at swapmeets or out of their garage or home. They have to be hot items because otherwise how would they be making any profit by selling so low.

    Yep.
There have been times I've ordered three different combos and returned the battery on all of them as soon as I got to the store. I paid ~$78 for the Packout M18 Fuel Vacuum (which I use the shit out of) that way last year.

The closer in price the "free" item is to the main item, the better deal you get.

How is the M18 vacuum as far as battery life? That's another one on my wishlist. Does it eat batteries like the leaf blower and orbital sander? I'd assume it does since they are all constantly running.

Loss of tools is a big cost for contractors, and for stores too. That's why it takes 30 minutes to get some one to unlock the cage at HD if you want a single tool out of there (and didn't pre-order online).
We have about $100,000 worth of batteries and tools never come back to the tool department every year on our jobs. We also buy about $1mm worth of cordless tools every year.

this depends on how much you are running the vacuum. What I like about that packout vacuum is it's the right size to bring with me where I'm working and run while I'm cutting or drilling right at the spot. I also use the felt bags inside of it so that it's not a mess inside. But I don't have it running for long extended periods of time - run it only while I'm making the cut or the hole and then shut it back off.
Most of my batteries are 6.0 or Forge 6.0 and they all seem to last pretty well for my use case.

One of the tools that has impressed me the most (and scares me a little because it's so easy to use one handed) is the Hatchet 6" chainsaw. I've got most of a day with a XC6.0 battery in it using it for trimming while cleaning up storm debris to burn and still not used a full charge.

Another thing to note is that tools like nail guns that aren't running the motor for long periods of time actually do really well with the smaller batteries (and are a lot lighter that way). I prefer to run CP2.5 or CP3.0 batteries in my finish nail guns and can still go most of a day with them. Running the air compressor (not inflator, but actual compressor) or grinder or blower it's better to use the bigger batteries.

It uses two batteries to operate. Or you can load it with 4 batteries for longer run time. I've been thinking about getting one for my MIL because she struggles with her Stihl gas backpack blower.

Just be careful there - the unregulated output of one of those batteries can actually exceed 80 AMPs. Short it out wrong and that can fuck you up bad.
