Brake Rotors and Pads

I currently have a 2022 Tundra Platinum 4x4 (it's new to me) and the brakes started squealing. It currently has 44k miles on it and I wanted to upgrade the brake pads and rotors front and rear for this coming winter season. I did a lot of google searching but everytime I click a link, it shows "This Product is NOT compatible with the 2022 Toyota Tundra" or it is sold out. I also read some threads in here to see if somebody left a link somewhere for what they got. Why is it so hard to look online for a brake rotor and pads for 3rd gen Tundra? Can anybody share a website where they get their brake parts off? I am not considering OEM replacement for now.

Do I need to be worried about compatibility for the rotors and pads or can I just slap on any Akebono pads to any Powerstop rotors?

 

Ditto… striking out on too much selection of aftermarket rotors and pads on RockAuto or other sites. No Centric or StopTech offered yet either.

 

I have always gone with oem rotors and pads…..never allowed dealers to turn them; just asked to replace them. RAV4, 4Runner and tundra - hasn’t let me down and they last so much longer

 

Hello everyone! I have a 2022 Limited and the pads and rotors are a little different due to the hold feature on the truck and the front rotors pistons are different from the back that is just my understanding.I complained to the dealer about the squeal and they are going to do a recall on it with new pads. I have been use to hearing a squeal on gm and fords after it setting a little while oxidation would have to wear off the rust but this one they assured me they could fix. Just for what its worth will know more in a couple days after the mechanic does the work and shows it to me.

 

... I have a theory on my rotors/pads. My truck shakes it's tail when I stop which tells me I have hot-spots on my rotors.
1) I've read that many radar cruise controls utilize the rear brakes to control speed
2) The APB (automatic parking brake) utilizes the rear brakes, although you can disable the APB.
I (stupidly) used the radar cruise towing my camper through the App Mtns this past spring, not realizing the engine braking was doing less than the rear brakes to control my speed. At every rest stop, gas station, etc... my APB engaged the same hot rear rotors and VOILA... hot spots.
Just my own theory, but I'll be replacing my rotors and pads once I find some aftermarket ones worth a hoot. Not sure if DFC (Dynamic Friction) or PowerStop are great, or not. I've always used Centric/StopTech or Brembo.

 

That is correct. When I'm towing my trailer and running cruise control I select the brake controller display on the left info screen. When I see the truck actuating the brakes I suspend the cruise control until I'm on a straight section of road again not requiring braking.

Yes, I have used them on my 2010 Tacoma and 2019 SRT. They have outstanding stopping power and minimal brake dust; the rotor and pads last a long time.

If you upgrade to these brakes and rotors, you will feel the difference. For ultimate stopping power, add steel brake lines.

Steel brake lines makes a significant difference even on OEM pads and rotors because they don't heat up as fast as the rubber OEM brake lines and will eliminate brake fading.

 

I'm a very big fan of Porterfield 4S pads for my trucks and put them on my '23 Tundra shortly after I got the truck. I think they're better than OEM and do recommend them even tho they're pricy but I did not find them to be dramatically better than Toyota pads unlike when I've put them on my Chevys.

 

Have you found Steel brake lines for 3rd gen? All I can find are extended lines for lifted trucks.

 

I am a big EBC fan but there are no parts listed on their website for 3rd gens??

Edit: OK, I see some brakes listed at those other links but not the first link. Odd. But good to know they seem to have them.
