I am researching dashcams and I am between the fitcamx and the oem Toyota dashcam. My main concern with the fitcamx is using the Y plug for the safety sensors. Is there a way I can plug it into the white plug in the headliner for the oem dashcam?

I've had a fitcamx dashcam on one of my previous cars but the main reason I'm asking is because the Toyota oem dashcam has parking mode so I can only assume that white plug always has power. So if I could tap into that for the fitcamx I'd be able to use parking mode without hardwiring it.

Email them and ask them . I put one in my wife's Lexus that recorded 24/7. My wife works from home but it killed the battery as the car doesn't move for 7-10 days. And before everyone says it's the battery....it is not.

Fitcam sent me another dongle to plug in NC and Shazam problem solved

I have the Fitcamx and it disabled the lane departure and perhaps other stuff.

I'll try that, any idea what the name of the plug is in the headliner?

I have a large crack in my windshield (drivers side) with an inspection sticker that is due in Dec 2024. Therefore I'm preparing myself for the fact that I'll need a new windshield. When I have it replaced, I want to see how fast I can rip out that toyota dashcam and slam it on the concrete! Total garbage.

I installed a FitCam on my 2024 1794 hybrid with no issues. Works great. I purchased the one with a rear facing camera but I have not installed the rear facing camera yet (not sure how and where I want place it just yet). Everything works fine (unlike someone else that said they lost lane departure).

I really like the FitCam products. Have installed them in other vehicles (2022 Lexus SE Hybrid that was traded in on the Tundra, 2022 GX that was my wife's, Daughter's CH-R.). The SD card can be a pain to remove at times.

I actually ended up going with the OEM dashcam for a great deal of $185 on ebay. Super easy Installation and does the job, surprisingly I don't have any complaints, it isn't as discreet as the fitcam but I like that I can tell it's recording with the light on whereas on my old fitcam I couldn't tell if it was recording or not because the LED were so dim.

I just installed it in my 24 limited, along with the FITCAMX dashcam. Worked perfectly

This may be a silly question but I don't see Tundra listed on the FITCAMX website. There is one for Toyota Sequoia 2017-2024 - is that the one to get for the 3rd gen Tundra?

Sorry - one more question: when using this cable, do you still need to utilize the "Y- cable" (#3) shipped with the dash cam OR do you just plug the (front) camera into the adapter and the (stock OEM) plug hidden in the headliner (used for the Toyota OEM dash cam install)?

I ordered the sienna connector, it plugs into the oem dash cam connector. If you use the sienna connector you don’t need the Y harness.

This is awesome - thanks! Now, it's 'decision time' whether or not I should go for Fitcamx or spend an extra $180 and just settle on the OEM Toyota unit...

Thanks for all your info and pics. Did you buy a bracket for the rear camera? Do you have the window that rolls down and are there any clearance issues?

Yea mine is a crewmax so the window rolls down. No issues at all. I have ordered a different bracelet since that picture though. It’s from the same place just ordered the 2in bracket the 1in makes the camera land right in front of the top defrost line. Not a big deal but I wanted to have the best video possible.

Where did you purchase the rear bracket at? I didn't see it in the store link you provided in the thread.

here is the link. I have changed the bracket since that picture. I ordered another but this time I got the regular length, 2 inches. And opted for black color. The black bracket, black camera and weather stripping all kinda blend in and make it less noticeable.
    https://www.thedashcamstore.com/custom-folded-bracket-for-secondary-dashcam-lenses/

forgot to mention why I got the longer bracket. The defroster line is right in the camera view. The longer bracket let me drop it down so it it between the defroster now.

Do you need both harness for parking mode to activate both cameras

No. The extra harness, sienna harness plugs into the factory dashcam connector which has constant power and will allow parking mode. The T harness that comes with the FITCAMX doesn’t have constant power, so no parking mode. If you use the sienna harness then yes both cameras work with parking mode.

With the parking mode and having both cameras on, will this drain the battery? Thx
