I'd be inclined to see if it stays running if you spray starting fluid in the intake. That would point to a fuel issue.

Hey guys, new here so not completely clear on how everything works. Anyways I’ve got a 2001 Toyota tundra 3.4 long bed, single cab. So far I’ve got headlights and rims and tires done, soon to be wrapped to color match everything. Currently working on fixing a misfire. Any suggestions on what I should do to it? Where can I get a good off-road bumper without breaking the bank?

First thing is scan the OBD2 for the trouble code, then lookup the code to find out which cylinder is misfiring. Then determine if it's an air, fuel, or spark issue.
Most common misfire issues are bad ignition coil(s), bad spark plug(s), wire(s), and/or bad injector(s).
The 3.4 only has three of ignition coils. Each one powers two cylinders. So if it's an ignition coil, you'll have two misfires.

If you can weld, my opinion is best bang for you buck would be Coastal Off-road.

For a minute (when we were going to sell the Ferd and the Civic) it was 9-11k ish max.
But I had very few bites on them, and i'm not giving them away ffs.
Not as serious atm, I do enjoy looking at what's out there... and keeping a handle on what people are asking.
But if some unicorn popped up around here... accommodations might be made.
Pre SAIS, AC, 2000-2002?, 4x4, NOT white, Not black, BENCH, NO leather, not over 200k-with exceptions I guess, no thrashed out interior, as stock as possible.
You know, a dam unicorn . Right now I'm pretty set on looking seriously AFTER we move to the sticks.
Shoulder injury and however that pans out is coming into play too.:goingcrazy:

Jeep Rubicon rental in STL today. Crazy what they put in these now. Adaptive cruise is an interesting add. It’s got electronic lockers front and rear (4Lo only which is lame), electronic sway bar disconnect (which can only be used in 4wd) and something called “Off road+” which I assume is like a tow haul button, but for wheelin’. Drives much better than my old jeep did.

Keep in mind a lot of that stuff you can always swap in later. No sais on 03 and 04 either, but you'll be getting the facelift.

Those are legit. A Seqouia full time 4wd xfer case would make one of those in 4wd with a supercharger an absolute beast.

My advice? Start with this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/so-you-wanna-buy-just-bought-a-1st-gen-tundra-eh.115928/

Then create a thread in the 1st gen main forum (bookmark that link for future visits) on the misfire, we can help you with diagnostics. But there is also a copy of an applicable service manual for your truck in that previous 1st link if you look carefully, it'll help with diagnostics. Misfire can be an array of things, spark plugs, coil pack (you can swap coil packs into different positions to see if the code moves to a diff't cylinder as an easy test), people using the wrong spark plugs, bad plug wires, etc.

Well, given the fuel pump shuts off in our trucks if the ECU can't get a read from the crank position sensor (to prevent car from catching fire in an accident where the engine stops running but vehicle power is on), I think you should probably listen to the ECU's diagnostic code there, friend.

This is exactly what happens when people misroute the wire for the timing belt on our V8/4.7L, the wire harness for the crank position sensor gets rubbed thru by belt or pulley, and will randomly not pump fuel when the wiring is breached enough. Then people come on here "my truck won't start!!"

Put that pinky in the stinky!

If there was an RCSB 5.7L 1GT I'd be all over it. Because racetruck

That would be cool AF for either rally race truck or off roader. But I'd like to be able to turn it to RWD still for the rooster tails, donuts, and fish tails.

Mine started fine when this happened after having the TBWP done. But it would randomly misfire then run great then misfire. Had to replace the sensor.

You guys with the 255/80/17s still liking them? All my lift parts are coming in and I was originally thinking 275/70/17, but this thread got me thinking. https://www.tundras.com/threads/pic-request-255-80r17-on-stock-wheels.44592/

    I
went full 8/6 6112s and am planning on doing a 1.5 wheelers add a leaf in the back, so I’ve got some room. This is a daily driver that we also take on 500-2000 mile road trips multiple times a year. I don’t do wild off road, but like doing some fire road stuff. Wish I could get a non e rated tire in the 255/80/17 to get a little smoother ride, but there’s so much rubber there that is seems like adjusting psi could smooth things out a good bit.

Yup. Technically I'm on 255x85xr16s, but same concept. I run at 32psi and it's a nice ride. When these get destroyed I'm staying with the same size or going to 34 or 35x10.5x17.
