Have the psb1 guage ready to go, was planning on sticking with the Maggy and just run the boost feature until I made the jump to upgrade injectors, tune and install the afr sensor. Having second thoughts and may go with Whipple. $900 more the Magnuson.

Last year Whipple ran their Black Friday deal starting Wednesday instead of all week. I called to ask a few questions and the gal on the phone was a little frazzled from releasing their sale a few days early (was supposed to be Friday, as in Black Friday but they changed their minds I guess). It was 15% off I think. They were crazy busy. Lead time was something like 8-10 weeks but I got mine in 3.

Right now looking like only 10% for the Whipple ($6500) and ($7400) for the Magnuson.

I got a Maggie 1900 just because of the price I found one for. Brand new, it was $5660. At the time there was no deals going on. Since I also decided to not run the Maggie tune, I also had to buy HPT , credits and a computer. Between HPT, a computer, gaskets and a few other miscellaneous stuff, I probably spent another $1500 I would say. Now, if right now, I was presented with the current sale prices, I would go with the Whipple. Only because of the price and they sound louder.

I got the maggie 2650 because I was about to pull the trigger on the 1900 when my brother let me know they had just released the 2650. Whipple was never a contester for me personally. At the time, I wasn't educated enough on the topic and just though 'well magnuson was the og in the tundra sc game, might as well stick with them' and the 'kit' seemed more completed. Fast forward to now, I think the kit might be more complete from harrop, but I still prefer Magnuson (biased opinion for sure given I have it).

Whichever route you go, just remember that if you want more power down the line then a lot of the items that make it a 'kit' (ie, fuel pump, injectors, intake) might get upgraded in the future anyway. Kit costs aside, you're likely in for the following (should you decide more power makes more sense...doesn't it always?)
    - gauges 150-300 depending if you want just afr or boost and afr
    - tune 300-600 depending the route you take
    - injectors 650-1000 depending the flow and manu
    - fuel pump 200-300 depending on the flow and manu
    - smaller pulley 100 courtesy of @snivilous
    - smaller belt to accommodate smaller pulley 50

Lastly... service time/cost. If you can do all of this on your own then you can save a ton. If not, I'd assume another 3-4k on top of equipment costs to get it perfect and where you want it.

i went with maggy 2650 because i found a dealer that did affirm so i get to make payments.
that being said ive only done a sniv 76mm pulley amd a OTT tune. ott can use the obd dongle and you dont need to buy a new plug or credits.
im also at 7k ft and im hitting 9psi

I wish I had waited for the Whipple, but love the Harrop, my advice is get the largest blower you can. No downside, more headroom. Also, I have zero confidence in a canned tune, a custom tune with larger injectors to keep it safe is recommended. Like others have said, gauges are helpful, and wideband is required for custom tuning...wideband gives better detail than the stock can provide.

I had at one point thought about getting the 2650 upgrade kit and sell my head unit and it wouldn't be that big of a hit. But considering the cost of a new built trans and or a new engine, I think I will side on the side of caution. My days of fast trucks, subs and cars are pretty much in the past. knock on wood I have never had a catastrophic engine or trans failure. I have install a built 4L65E, they are half the price of a built AB60. I bought the 1900 base on price, if not I wouldn't have one right now. It's fun to have the boost but in the end it's a 6,000+lb brick going down the road.

Another thing to note is the Harrop, Whipple and 2650 Magnuson are more efficient than the 1900 Magnuson...newer rotor technology so they produce less heat per PSI because they don't have to spin as fast to get the same levels of boost.

They also have larger intercooler cores and a more efficient airflow internally than the 1900 Magnuson.

You really want the afr hooked up right away, even with the stock pulley and tune. Otherwise you're just crossing your fingers and hoping that it's not too lean

I’d still install the Harrop again if I were to start again from scratch. Sounds like most everybody feels this way about the blower they spent thousands on…which is a good sign frankly!

The 1900 and 2650 rotors are the same design 4 lobe high helix. What makes the 2650 more efficient is that it flows more at a lower speed. Now to what point that efficiency matters is up for debate. On a single run down the track, I don't see it mattering that much. Now if you're constantly on it then the extra cooling efficiency matters. I would like to see what an out of the box install of both a 1900 vs a 2650 run down the 1/4 mile. Specs wise out the box they are 10hp and 10tq difference between the 2 according to Magnusons site.

The 2650 is not the same exact design as 1900, but just larger. It’s a more modern design. Here is a comparison of the 2650 to the 2300. The 2300 and 1900 share the same rotor design, but are different displacement. It’s been said before though that bigger isn’t necessarily better as far as efficiency. You could argue the 1900 is too small and the 2650 is too large for most of us. You have to look at the compressor maps for each one and look at the RPM vs efficiency and pressure ratio you actually plan to run it at to see what the best choice would really be. One universal benefit with the larger blowers is really just the larger intercooler surface area, compressor efficiency aside. They will all make boost RPM dependent, it’s more just the difference of how much energy it consumes from the engine (horsepower) to make that boost, and how much of the energy is wasted (heat) vs the flow it provides.

Design as in 4 Lobe High helix. It's not like the 1900 is the old style Radix.

I'm having a hard time finding any reason why the maggy/harrop is around $700 better than the whipple (assuming magnuson does a 10% off like harrop is, but haven't seen it)?

I need to do some final number crunching and waiting for Colton to get me a #, but this might be the year.

I would go for the Whipple based on price and noise. Both bolt on like a factory option. At the end of the day your talking about negeable power numbers which really don't matter in the grand scheme of things. As it is our platform is outdated. A new F150 Coyote is knocking on our rear-ended with a Maggie, at least my rear end. Put a Whipple on that Coyote and it's game over. Put it for fun and enjoy it. Don't think you will be breaking any records, but you will break a transmission or 2, lol.

Yeah thats what i'm kinda thinking. Crunched the numbers, and can make the whipple work.

Hopefully Colton can match Whipple's price for $6570 and FS....save me almost $600 in sales tax.

Does whipple use HP tuners for their tunes?

I don't know who Whipple uses for tuning. I, among a lot of other members use custom tuning. @snivilous is one of the main go to members for tuning. But this would require you to buy HPT and a computer.
