Yeah, most positions in the company do not work holidays. In fact, up until a few years ago no one but on call personnel. Decades back, possibly more, the holidays were set up so you got 8 hours pay even if you didn't work. So that persists. I claim 8 hours as holiday on top of any hours I work.

That really stinks. Someone working on Thanksgiving/Christmas is nowhere near the same as a non-holiday, schedule be damned.

Nah. It's fine. It's quite alright considering my schedule. I technically only work 6 months of the year.

 

I'm good. Not worth protecting the useless asses that don't work and all the drama.

 

It was nice to work Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, "Good Friday", Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Day each year...
6 triple time days in 2 months would equal 4-5 weeks in San Diego during the winter paid in full


I mean, it was nice to be able to offer to handle working the holidays so my co-workers could spend time w/their families

It's 76° outside right now. I'm not sure how ya'll deal with this kind of heat.

Furthermore, also want to say that it's good to know we aren't the only state that has idiot asshole drivers. Just saw a lifted 2.5 gen run up on a car honking for them to get out of the way. Car didn't move so they whipped around them, cut them off, and had to slam on their brakes for a light. WTF is wrong with people? On a holiday no less.

 

We shame those useless asses until they get their shit together and start being productive. People get fired here, the union isn't all powerful.

I was a non-union electrician for years, I don't miss those days at all. Hoping to get a raise every year.
The wage difference is mind blowing. My wife has been able to stay home with our kids for 8 years, so worth it.

 

I get that, but that's also not the norm for unions. Ask the folks at hostess how the union was...

As to tundras, this happened in front of my sister's duplex Monday night.
He came hauling ass down the street, hit the illegally parked silver car, that was pushed into my sister's old white Nissan.
Cops got him and took him to jail..
Sis said it was a Tundra, kinda looks like from the bottom...

With all the health issues the wife is dealing with she decided she didn't want to go anywhere or be around a lot of people
So... we're having Thanksgiving dinner out of a box

It shouldn’t be too bad it was her idea

 

I talked to a lot of people the past few days that were forgoing the big family dinner. They were either skipping it all together or the fam was all meeting at a restaurant.

One person I know is going to a tribal casino and planned to crush their buffet. A lot of irony there…
