My 2014 has a column shifter and I've been doing research on new head units. Anyone have pictures or links with larger sized units with column shifters. I know there is clearance, but just concerned with it looking cluttered or not enough clearance.

There’s the Tesla style display if you want to completely swap it out.

I don’t think a floating would clear the column shifter.

    Too many, but not enough....
Unless your using a cathode ray floating display, you should not have any clearance issues. Passenger side visibility issues maybe....

I don't think very many people have the chicken wing shifter. Wish I did.

You can totally clear it if you flush mount the display.

So the HU pics are in my '19 and the column shift is my '00... not apples to apples, but I can't imagine it'd be much different location.

I think there would be plenty of room. There is some adjustability in the floating displays.

I have my phone mount between the HU and the wheel with no interference or blockage so there is space.

When you're in Drive, wouldn't the shifter be low enough to not be in the line of sight of the HU?

I have a mag mount to the left of the head unit above the 4x4 switch (2nd gen) and the end of the column shift definitely obscures the screen. However, I can't see how it would block any vision of one of the floating screen head units, it would be too far away.

Floating display HU- Does it work for you or not [if you have one installed, especially in a FGT]?
Why not or why so? [eg: crowds the cab, obscures air vents or other..jambs fingers against shift lever end,,,on n on n on...
Pics to support your case one way or the other appreciated....

I have a pioneer on my 2011, never had any issues with clearance or feeling cluttered.20241207_193401.jpg 20241207_193412.jpg 20241207_193412.jpg

Personally think shift lever is too long anyway in FGTs; feels like with an 8" floating display it"d be close, but going to 9 or 10 might be a finger jammer or broken display when shifting back & forth quickly for parking, etc...
Not that i have NBA size hands, but i remember in my FGTacoma having clearance issues swinging the steering wheel and catching the W/shieldWasher arm w/my fingers.
OTOH, biggest plus is larger screen and closer to eyes/rt hand, which could make extra cost of HU a wash.
I can live w/max 7" for FGT dash openings, but if I want bigger display, will i be compromising cab space or creating awkward access/driving issues..?
Wouldnt think its much of an issue in later GenTundras since I last tried one on at a dealership couple weeks ago and couldnt help noticing the frt cab/dash area is huge [compared to FGT] like an AirBus cockpit. felt like i had to clear take-off w/ ATC tower...-

    thx @Pomp_Cat115.
It looks like your SGT may benefit from a slightly larger cab or better spread dash arrangement. Doesnt look like a knuckle-buster from your shift lever as well.
    Is that Pioneer 9 or 10" ?

thx @SD Surfer. About your FGT: Did you ever consider a Floating 8 or 9" HU?

No, when I did that one, I don't think the floating big screens were really a thing yet.

thx @1lowlife, but i think blocking screen vis wouldnt be as bad as knocking the shift lever out of gear accidentally while turning down volume @70...of course im exaggerating but i would rather have a floor/console shifter instead of the 'chicken wing'.

As much as I'd like a bigger screen, I dont think I have clearance w/out rubbing my knuckles against it w/every shift.
Not shown in pic but I always have my mitt over the end of the shifter.
Slight chance an 8inch screen might survive.20241211_142400.jpg
