I got the wheel and tire pulled this morning and located the leak. Sure enough, it's about a 2.5-3" crack in the wheel that is blowing air like crazy.

Another thought I had today was that maybe I cracked it slightly on one of our wheeling trips and throughout all the highway driving the last couple weeks the crack heat cycled and started to spread. Just a theory.

Glad you found it before the wheel disintegrated.

You and me both! Could have been a wild ride for sure.

Now let's see if I hear back from Black Rhino about a warranty.

If they don't warranty the wheel just sell the other 4 and get something else. I want to see some polished beadlocks on the truck

I think polished would look sweet. I don't even know what wheel I would run anymore, I wish SCS would come out with a 17".

My SCS do fit nicely compared to the SSWs. More tire options are coming out for 18s.

I'm a big fan of KMC wheels or Methods with bead grip.

I think I'm going to sell the black rhino wheels and get these methods.
    Screenshot_20241206-063324.png
They are dirt cheap at the moment, have bead grip, and have a higher capacity.
The black rhino warranty process has left quite a bit to be desired. I'm not sure if they'll replace it or not until after I ship it to them.

Anybody interested in a set of 4 or possibly 5 wheels? One will be brand new if they warranty it.

I actually had a guy give me some 40's so it will be with 40's. I'm actually on 10mm offset now so it won't be too much wider. About .394" further out.

I say order 39's right now!

Not sure if you have had bead grip before but you are gonna really like them. I ran them on my jeep and I could run sub 8 PSI every time I went wheeling with no issues.

I haven't had them before, but I've heard really good things. I'm really not wanting to go to a different wheel but they should be an upgrade.

There’s a local guy to me selling a new set of 39x12.5 kanati mud hogs I might have to snag.

Haha I'd start the gear research and saving now if you're even looking at 39's. You know you'll end up there anyways.

True. I have the money saved up now just waiting on a few things first. 5.29s are on the to do list for sure. I might just do a rear limited slip instead of lockers though.

I'm running a powertrax in my rear and it works pretty well. If I did it again it would have e lockers front and rear.

Why is that? I like the idea of not worrying about air or line possibly getting damaged.

With the e locker you don't need to worry about having a compressor, air leaks aren't an issue and you don't need to worry about an air leak in the diff pressurizing everything causing leaks..l

Didn’t know they made an e locker for the Tundras! Well that changes things up.

Edit: Just noticed you said e locker originally haha my bad.

love my 701 bead grips in bronze 18x9 +25, with 37s not in the 39s crowd... stuffs nicely and no rubbing.

My 39x12.50 works really well on my 10mm offset wheels, but I am getting a set of 40x13.50's for free so tubbing is in my future anyways so I might as well go 0 offset and just cut everything.

Quick question for some of the people following my build before I decide whether or not to make a separate post.

I had a Tacoma come into the shop this week with the bumper mounts completely torn off from some abuse. We rebuilt the bumper mounts and beefed them up and tied in a couple gussets to make sure it won't happen again. Would there be any interest in possibly designing a kit for the tundra that beefs up the bumper mounts before they get destroyed? It would be a weld on kit and it would probably retain the factory inner stud and replace the outer studs with 1/2" bolts. Any thoughts?

Is it a cut and weld or just weld? Cut and weld I, personally, would get cold feet.

Not sure if you’ve seen the Demello bumper’s support bracket but it wraps around and bolts through the frame and is pretty slick other than it interferes with pretty much all shock reservoirs. This is a photo I have of a fellow member here. The bolt goes through where the red circle is. Just something to think about..

I'm not sure how we would do it yet, possibly just remove the outer studs, drill out the holes and then weld on the plate and gussets. I've seen brackets like those, we do something similar for the tundra that utilizes the tow hook bolts, this would just be supplemental to aftermarket brackets like the one you referenced. Just extra strength to keep it from bending from impacts, winch pulls and general off-road use. The flimsy stock metal fatigues fairly easily.

The new methods came in yesterday and I got them mounted today. I didn't like the style as much as the black rhinos right out of the box but once I got them on the truck I liked them better. The color is a better match for the cement also. I like the kind of rallyish look of these.

I'll get the black rhino's listed for sale after I get them cleaned up. The 5th wheel replacement should ship early January unless something weird happens with the warranty.

I installed a start x remote starter and ordered some husky floor liners for the truck last week. Nothing crazy going on on that front.
We took it up to Colorado this weekend and picked up a new ride for my wife. This one will end up being a fun project I think.
37's are on the way for it already. I'm going to repurpose the old black rhino wheels for this and I ordered some kanati terra commander rtx tires for it. Less than $1,400 for 5 from priority tire so I couldn't pass them up.
Then it will be getting high clearance bumpers and a roof rack.
