1st sample from when I changed the factory oil. I also cut the filter apart and inspected the media. I saw a couple of very small shavings, about like a splinter in your finger. I didn't see any of the stuff that Car Car Nut saw in his at the first change. I'll change again at the first scheduled service by Toyota. I refilled this time with Mobil 0W-20 and Mobil filter.

Also, this is a hybrid with a build date of 3/2024.

Ran M1 5w-30 for 5k from 35k to 40k and it sheared down to 20 weight. Currently filled with Kirkland 5w-30 will test at 5k when I get there next month.

Any oils analysis posts here that track and engine form running fine to failure? I see lots of analysis and comments about this could be from that and so on. i am looking for 10,20,30K analysis then boom!! kind of data. basically a signature of a failing engine. I will post my 1500 mile change here in a month or so when it gets done 2025 1794 TRD OR 10/24 build date.

No I don't believe that we have identified a pattern yet that can show an upcoming failure.

Second oil sample I’ve done - Valvoline extended protection + M1-103a filter over a ~6300 mile OCI. Probably ~30/70 city/highway driving with a lil off-roading mixed in.

My second report also. Wanted to do a 10,000km OCI but the weather and road conditions were not cooperating on the day of my appointment. That’s the note the report references.

In another thread someone mentioned a steady increase in Silver in someone's analysis (3) and then an engine failure. first piece of info (conjecture?) like this I have seen.

I do not want to be the rumor mill. I am an engineer and I like data. I will post my 2K (first change) results from my 25 1794 (10/24 build date) hopefully next week. I did not cut the filter open.

1st OFFICIAL sample. The 1st sample was only with 1200 milles. Pretty relieved with the results obviously beeing a 1/22 build. Towed my 5K TT twice about 150 miles each time and my new 8K trailer once on this sample. I also am a little heavy on the skinny pedal. Ironically, I just got the recall notice in the mail. I think I'll hold off for a while.

how can that still be from solder like they said, can that still be getting into the oil?

The only change was the oil used...went from Amsoil to Kirkland. The lowest silver content samples were from non-Amsoil brands...coincidence?

    Kirkland light on the moly…
according to Lake Speed, ZDDP eats silver. If the AMSOIL had more ZDDP, that could explain the test results. The question becomes what is leaching the silver into the oil…

#1- Toyota....2-4 Amsoil and 5 is Kirkland. You can tell the differences in Silver, Moly, Boron and Magnesium.

Well everything is in the green now, did ask Lake if there was a typo on the Oxidation level if it should be 8.81 instead of 88.1. Going to stay at 3K or 4K oil changes and staying with Redline and Donaldson Filter.Screenshot 2025-01-30 at 11.42.37 AM.png . Now going back to

This is an early 600 mile report from a few months ago. I already did a 5000 mile oil change but I didn't save a sample so I will collect and send a sample from my next change at 10,000 miles.

Such a waste of time sampling a short interval. Especially on new engine. Get rid of the break in material first then sample on the next change.

I haven’t sampled mine but I did run the oil through a filter. At 5K no metal flakes visible.

Everyone has their own thoughts and reasons for when to test. I did my first at 5K mostly interested in viscosity, coolant contamination and fuel contamination values.

As noted, these oil tests have not confirmed any relationship between the results and an imminent engine failure.

While a good report might give some owners a warm and fuzzy feeling, I really don't see the point of them.

Can a poor report lead to any actionable fix under warranty? Or do they just lead to unnecessary anxiety?

I get that. I wanted an early change and I sent in the sample just to see.
