I stand by my comment. Show me how you mount that front wheel on any of the inside or outside rear wheel mounts.

It was a SEMA concept build; it doesn’t have to play by the lowest common consumer rules. So no, the front and rear wheels aren’t the same. Plenty of production vehicles have come with staggered wheel setups where the wheels are not interchangeable front to rear , and no spare tire for either.

Even still, the SEMA concept tundra HD wheel compatibility is easily remedied with a traditional front dually wheel adapter that comes standard on virtually every production light duty dually truck. One of these would give you the ability to run the same wheels front and rear, and carry a common spare. Definitely not a show stopper.

A friend's son stopped by today and he was in his new Ford F350 Dually High Output Diesel King Ranch. It smelled like a nice leather shop in there. Said it rode like a dream and had everything in there including seat massagers and the kitchen sink. HA! That was a dang nice truck and it was very big inside and out! Absolutely nothing about the interior that looked cheap. The leather was LEATHER!! It really is a very nice truck.

Toyota should go all out and build a nice 4X4 high output diesel, but make it nice and comfortable not all plastic looking in the cab.

Nissan tried. Nobody wanted it. Toyota barely competes in the half-ton category against the big 3. Why would they try to build a 3/4 or a 1 ton truck?

What Toyota should try is selling a stripped out Sienna hybrid work van. I think there's a market for that.

Dodge demon comes to mind. You get 2 sets of tires/wheels and both have much larger rear tires.

I am sure Toyota could do a 3/4 and 1 ton truck.

However the cost of “ getting there” is probably a non starter for them.

They would need in some form or fashion

    35,000 lb towing capacity
    1,000 ft lb torque
At least 12 mpg while towing
    Pass US diesel emission standards

They would have to put a ton of capital into developing a lot of this from scratch.

the big 3 have done amazing things with the heavy duty trucks. It would be a very tough competition for Toyota.

To be fair, the HD titan is a decent truck. For me the thought process was this: "it's kinda ugly and if I'm getting a Cummins anyway I'll get a ram"

They already have trucks that can do 3 of the 4. They don't want to make another body for it and they will never in a million years get a Hino to pass emissions

    NZL-fbc58650-a438-4800-9c4d-eb66a24d5184-1.jpg
I think they understand that people who need an HD truck already have one, and with that comes brand loyalty. They probably don't think it would sell

He 1000% lied. HD trucks do not ride like dreams. None of them.

Well it's a 25 for one and I am sure he wasn't lying.Said it rides better than his wife's Escalade. I did not ride in it but the 33 year old kid ( I call him a kid cause I watched him grow up) would have no reason to BS me. I asked him specifically how does it ride because I was curious.
If you are so sure he lied you should go test drive one of those expensive rigs and let us know what your opinion is? We shall be waiting. Pretty bold statement for not knowing this person.

He kept his CrewCab F350 non dually for a beater truck, in fact he said it was rough riding. He stated it rode rough enough he had the whole front end redone with Fox shocks and it still did not ride as smooth as his new dually.

That is a stretch, but they are damn nice trucks, Should have him take you for a spin. If I had 100k to spend on a truck I'd go F350 king ranch without thinking twice.

I have plenty of friends with HD trucks. Several F250s, including a tremor. One is a 24 Denali in that questionable brown color. It rides pretty good for a truck, really nice for an HD, but still no where near a comfortable ride by passenger car standards and not near as nice as his girl friends 24 Yukon Denali. Maybe 25 is the year they cracked the code and can offer a plush ride and 4000# of payload in the same package. Call me skeptical.

I also thought I read the GMs ride better than the Fords due to having IFS.

It’s better, but not great when compared to pretty much anything not HD. People like receipts, to show I’m not just blowing smoke, he dropped off some elk and bison meat for me yesterday. My Tundra on the right, his HD on the left.

Too bad all the Hino trucks in the US have Cummins motors. Supposed to be a good chassis though.

What I want is a Honda domani. Why aren't people importing those sweet ass cars?

Warranty repairs would kill them in the 3/4 and 1 ton vehicle class building 800hp diesels unless Toyota decides to start shafting their customers like the Big 3 do. Ford, Dodge, and Chevy owners are used to getting screwed over. Ford built garbage 6.0 and 6.4 diesels for 7 years and it's still the best selling truck. Toyota can't afford to eat the warranty claims on a modern diesel.

    Many on the way.
Hino produces their own engines for the USA. The HINO 195 (same as the Toyota Dyna pictured above, Hino 300 in the ROTW) is a nice truck w/ a 19500 GVWR, but the J05E 5.0l 4 cyl w/ 210hp 440 tq isn’t going to be a tow beast. Maybe if tuned up J07E 6 cylinder was dropped into a 195 chassis. Interestingly, the Aisin A465 auto trans that is run behind the J05E in the 195 is the same series transmission that is run in the high HP Ram trucks behind their Cummins, they call it the AS68 and 69.

Now if only Hino saw fit to bring us the 4x4 version! Maybe a conversion won’t be too difficult… make a great plow vehicle.

In Canada the 3 ton and 5 ton Hinos are really common, we got 4wd models. Cool part is the earlier version got Toyota
12HT variants. Later bigger models got 14BT and some got 15BT. Both are stupid strong 4 cyl Turbo diesels. They got
so many miles on them a person has to be mechanical to run them, but if I was building a large Overlanding Camper
this is the only platform I'd consider.
