Waxahachie here, about 30 miles south of Dallas. I work in downtown Dallas, though. Would be nice if we could get some local wrench-a-thons going.

Someone mentioned Bridgeport. Been there a few times many years ago when I had a 1st gen Tacoma. Nice place but don't remember if there are any trails that are Tundra-sized friendly. It's not so much the Tundra's width (pinstriping should be expected) as it is the long wheelbase and heavier weight.

There's also BMRA in Gilmer, about 2 1/2 hours east. Camping is also allowed. Like Bridgeport, you need a TPWD OHV sticker. Great place, but many trails may be too tight for the Tundra's longer wheelbase. Toyota Jamboree is held there every year by the Toyota Trail Riders Club, a DFW-based club associated with the Toyota Landcruiser Association but open to all Toyota 4x4s. Mega Run (open to all 4x4s) is also held there every year.

Hot Springs OHV is about 5 hrs away in Hot Springs, AR. Been many years since I've been (back when it was owned by Superlift), but I think the tight wooded trails there are also not very suitable for the bigger, longer Tundra. Their trails are also more of a shale rock, which added some difficulty compared to the Gilmer and Bridgeport trails. Camping is allowed. Don't know if the nearby Ouachita National Forest has any trails to explore but it may be worth a look.

If you're into mud, Shiloh Ridge in Alto, north of Lufkin in east Texas, is the place to go after a good rain. Their trails can be slick as snot, though, when it rains. First few Mega Runs were held there in the early 2000's. Camping is allowed.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, OK used to have some trails that were very Tundra friendly. Don't know if they're still open to the public, though. Haven't been there in many years.

Marble Falls in the Hill Country has Hidden Falls Adventure Park. Haven't been there yet but want to go. Camping is also allowed.

If you like hard core rockcrawling, don't mind body damage and can afford to break stuff, there's always Katemcy Rocks in south Texas and the trails in southeast Oklahoma. Haven't been to those places, though.

If you don't mind long drives, Big Bend National Park has some easy trails. My son and I explored a few last year. You can also camp there. And the Santa Fe National Forest has some great trails, too, if you're willing to make the drive. Don't know if camping is allowed there but I guess you can always check with the Ranger Office.

I've been to a few local Tundra meets a year or so ago. Facebook also has an active local DFW-based Tundra group that meets regularly. Good way to meet Tundra folks and check out what others have done to their rigs, tips, etc. Haven't been to any local Tundra wrench-a-thons yet, but had been to quite a bunch when I had my Tacoma and was more involved in off-roading with the local off-road clubs several years back. They were an excellent way to learn how to maintain and modify your own rig and meet new folks.

I see the Toyota Trail Riders are having their monthly meet tonight at Pappa's BBQ in Dallas off NW Hwy and I-35E. I know of one member who has a Tundra in that club, but I think he uses his heavily modified Tacoma for off-roading. Most of the rest are into the more dedicated, technical aspects of off-roading with smaller, lighter, much more modified Toyota 4x4s, but they welcome all Toyota 4x4s, including our bigger Tundras. I probably won't be able to go tonight, but thought I'd mention it in case anyone's interested.

That's the Facebook club I was talking about! They seem very active with local meets. Like I said, I had been to a few last year and always enjoyed checking out all the different mods folks had done to their Tundras.

That's right! What time are you guys thinking the Saturday evening part will start? I have softball all morning for my kids on Saturday so Friday night and Saturday morning are out for me. I'm willing to be there in the evening though depending on times....no kids this weekend, but i refuse to miss my girls events.
