    Hello all,

As the title states I have a 2005 Tundra and have been encountering issues with the 4wd system. At first, the 4hi 4lo lights were flashing rapidly when I tried to engage the 4wd. From what I found online that meant that something is preventing the actuator from engaging. I cleaned the electronic connectors to the actuator and that did not fix the problem. I then pulled the plastic cover off the actuator and cleaned the gears, the problem still remained. I then pulled off the entire actuator and noticed the metal contacts were corroded so I bought a new actuator and installed it.

Now only the 4lo light blinks and the 4wd still wont engage. I checked the 4wd fuse and it is intact. I am now unsure if it could possibly be an electric connection or a problem with the front differential actuator.

Has anyone ever encountered this problem or a similar one? or does anyone have any other ideas of things I can check that could be causing this problem?

    Thanks

4WD isn't my forte. @Tundra2 didn't you have something weird with the fork position or whatever when you were dealing with your actuator, and that lent to some weird ass results?

I would verify the front driveshaft for the 4wd is spinning when you engage 4wd high and that you can take it out of 4wd high. If that works, it's in all likelyhood your front diff actuator giving you problems.

4wd low as I recall should only engage after 4wd high is engaged and the truck is in neutral and at a standstill. Don't quote me on that, check the driver's manual to confirm. I haven't used 4wd low in years.
