it probably wont happen till the mid cycle refresh.

the current gen only came out when 2.5 was introduced.

edit : also to add, this is a hardware limitation than a software update i think

I dont have a photo of it but the intercooler has a black plastic molding on 2 or 3 sides - bottom being one of them- and some guys drilled like a 1/2 hole to let stuff drain out or break up and fall out?

Sorry i dont have better info on that for you- but yeah bottom line gripe is no easy way to get leaves out from the intercooler radiator

Oh ok. I don't think a small hole drilled in the bottom of the plastic scoop is going to magically let leaves and bugs dislodge from the intercoolers and fall out. Mine are stuck to the intercooler and jammed into the bottom, outboard corners pretty firmly. I've found a ShopVac with a section of 1/2" vinyl tubing duct-taped to the end of the hose works great for snaking in there through the grille to suck all that crap out.

I’ve spoken with Toyota engineers and this last sentence is accurate.

Apparently, it was just a timing thing which is why dealers were told the remote start would work with the door openings. However, when the truck went to launch, the TSS 3.0 wasn’t finalized yet.

That’s why there’s a mix of Toyota vehicles that work one way and others that work another way.

I would think TSS 3.0 has to be on the mid cycle refresh list?

There's a big list of small comforts that Toyota really missed and will struggle to convert anyone with a pickup from GM/Ford/Ram if they don't fix it. I won't even try to convince anyone to get one without saying there's a bunch of stupid s**t Toyota can't get right and to live with one day to day is a compromise. We had a 2016 Lexus GX460 and it didn't even have remote start. The 2022 GX460 we traded for has it but shuts off when you open the door as well. Both the Lexus and Tundra suck at defrosting and maintaining the windows from fogging up while driving. But if they aren't two of the smoothest driving powertrains out there I don't know what is. The tundra wipers suck, and the washer sprayers miss the window completely in any side wind. The box rattles are have become familiar. The safety sense is terrible. We rented a Sonata and drove 5000 miles over a couple weeks. The lane departure and radar cruise control logic was almost flawless and is light years ahead of Toyota.

What I wouldn't trade though is the ride quality. After 10 years of GM 8 speeds and 6 speeds clunking and banging I couldn't give them another chance. The Toyota steering feel isn't as responsive, and it's a bit more unsettled on broken pavement or multiple bumps but that's highly relative to the shock package. The Tundra transmission shifts get me excited every time I drive.

I don't recall seeing/hearing this particular complaint before. This has not been my experience with my '24 at all regarding defrosting and wipers. No issues at all there or box rattles.

TSS 2.5 is the most likely culprit for a good percentage of the poorly implemented safety nannies and frustrations we have to deal with in these trucks.
If TSS 3.0 fixes them, I might be tempted to trade up. We'll see.
Maybe a Platinum w/ AVS and a 6.5 bed next time around. :D

Overall all I love the truck. I don't even care if the TSS works. If it was optional I'd wouldnt bother getting it. It's weird how a Hyundai Sonata though can perfectly catch up to a vehicle, slow, and maintain following speed in one attempt whereas the tundra has to catch up, brake, gas, brake, gas, brake, and now it might be dialed in.

As for the wipers and defrost you'll see it from the Canadians if you look. Here we're in a constant freeze/thaw salt/sand slush/snow kind of windy hell where an absurd amount of people top up washer fluid while getting gas because God forbid you run out while driving. Also, some guy just posted on Saturday a thread: "Winter windshield fog "extreme"". The cure is to always be in defrost at a mid fan speed while being just on the cusp of uncomfortably warm. Always micro adjusting. The rear windows will likely still fog if the seats are occupied.

To be fair, this (so far) and last winters in MN have been unusually weak.

The Toyota multimedia system and CarPlay interaction could use some improvement. Switching from CarPlay back to the native system is cumbersome, especially if you are going from one audio source to another. And why does it no go back to the selected radio/satellite station when returning from a phone call?
The whole remote start system is crap.
    Sub output is crap.
Turning radius is not good. It's not as bad as a Ford, but still not good.

I was complaining about these things on another thread once and someone asked me why I even purchased the truck if it had all these things I didn't like. Outside of the turning radius, which I determined I could live with during a test drive, how many of these things do you really think to assess during the 15 minutes you spend with the car before purchase. I still love the truck, and it has it's quirks just like every other car/truck I've owned.

The whole “why did you buy the truck then” argument is stupidity at its finest. Because we all look at every possible feature, test it in depth, and keep track prior to buying…smh.

Check out this Ram RHO guy on the forums! Haha just kidding

I would love the TSS 3.0 options but I just got a '24 Platinum. Has there ever been a way to update a vehicle to the newest TSS? All this fancy technology I would guess no since it would integrate with more things than a simple software flash.

wait until you realize you have to crack the window to get the moisture out so your windows dont fog on the inside cause people are breathing to dam much moisture into the cabin.

its get worse as the colder it gets below 0F (-17c for you people north of me in ND)

you havent seen fustration when that moisture freezes to the inside windshield cause its -30F ambient outside

Seems to me you speak to the people who engineer the products and, well, you get answers on why they did things. Pretty simple equation.

I have the reverse mind blown. You spend 10s of thousands on a truck and then the people who engineered it are idiots. If you thought they were idiots, then why buy it since you obviously know more than they do.

The engineers come up with a great design and then management and the bean counters tell them they have to strip stuff out to make it cheaper.

Engineers "always get it right," say what? WTF are you talking about? I criticize vehicles all the time and challenge engineers. Just because I talk to them, doesn't mean I always agree with them. Jesus man. You really jump to conclusions.

Have you tried using voice commands? I also hate the number of steps it takes to go from Android Auto to any of the "native" screens, but I discovered that saying "Hey, Toyota. Display the settings screen" takes you instantly to the native system. Or something like "Hey, Toyota, play FM radio" also works. Not all voice commands are perfectly intuitive, but that's better than having to navigate through a bunch of icons on the screen.

So.... are we assuming it's NOT really Tim Esterdahl, but someone posting as him? Or am I assuming it IS really him all this time and I'm an idiot?

@DesertDwellerFeller : the term is "shill." Which would infer that he's being paid by Toyota. Now that's a stretch.

@SilveradoSwap : There was pissing? I missed it.
