Any pictures of underside of truck with off road package? I did a search on here and didn't see any photos. Just wondering how substantial the skid plates are.

Only OEM skid plate I have is the front, and that was called out as a separate option, so not actually part of the OR package. At least in 2023. It is pretty substantial, made from heavy duty aluminum. It's a bit of a PITA to deal with during oil changes since it needs to be removed. I have since added a cat shield that is like another skid plate of sorts. There are several aftermarket vendors that have full skid packages.

'24 here, and same as raylo.
It's fairly common to see the TRD Off Road package equipped trucks with the optional TRD PRO skid plate.
It's the one and only skid plate that's offered as O.E. (At least on a non-TRD PRO?)

Not sure if all, but most of the aftermarket offerings have an oil filter/drain access cover that make oil changes easier.
The TRD version is a little clunky and awkward to remove and replace.

It is stout enough to jack on and lift the front of the truck.

Keep in mind the skid plate above is the ‘ST’ option for $380 in 2024. It is substantial.
My nephews is a 24 SR5 TRD Off Road without the option. His came with a ‘plastic’ (?) skid plate.

On the sticker. Skid plate option is separate from TRD OR package.

Can someone post a picture of the TRD Off Road Package skid plate..it seems to me that the one pictured above will not be included in that package and I would have to order it separately to get that one. Thanks

Don't have a picture handy, but it's not much to look at.
Not much more than a glorified splash shield. Definitely wouldn't call it a skid plate.

Bummer, mine didn't come with the TRD skid plate option.

Easy enough to go buy one and pop it on.

True, but I figured the off road package said skid plates, turns out not really

The TRD OR skid plate is thin and is not really a skid plate as you would think it should be. I was surprised by what they consider a skid plate. I put a Talons Garage skid plate for the catalytic converter. I still need to replace the pitiful OE engine skid plate. I’ll snap a photo tomorrow of the engine skid.

Google is your friend. This is it, pretty useless, the front diff is a sitting duck for a rock or the like to smash it. If you hit that plastic skid plate, next in line is lower and exposed. I’ll be purchasing a trd pro skid once I can swallow the over $700 price here in Canada after tax.

I would go with the Talon skid. I have it for my cat shield/trans skid and it's beefy. The standard TRD OR skid is a pathetic attempt at a skid plate and will do close to nothing. Going to be adding the Talon engine skid, which will cure the issue.

If I didn't already have the optional Alu TRD skid I'd get the Talons since it has an access panel for oil changes. Looks like it is tight but should be doable. I have their cat shield, and it is solid and mates well with the optional TRD Alu skid. I have gotten used to pulling the Alu TRD skid for oil changes... but the next one that is due soon might be a challenge since I have to do it in the driveway and what with the ridiculous cold winter we are having.

I have had the bolts holding the skid plate stripped by a tech at the dealership getting in too big a hurry. The oil change access door is a nice option.

This (and time) is why I do my own oil changes and the dealer doesn't touch my truck unless absolutely necessary.

It's likely I'm going to pick up the Talon cat shield, I might as well get their skid plate too for the access door.

How does the Talons skid access panel for oil changes work? Can you get to both the filter and drain plugs? How easy or how hard is it?

Yeah, I ordered the TRD OR skid plate since I had the package, I have not checked the bolts but I usually do after every oil change. One dealer I go to has an open air oil change center so you can see the techs as they change the oil. Yes the oil change guy or gal is the lowest paid tech in the building, they usually do not care what damage they do.

For the filter there is a removable panel. If you put a hose on the little drain pan for the filter it is easy peasy.
The drain plug is another story. I stuck a milk jug above the plate cut to size. This directs all the oil out the hole in the plate. Worked ok for me. Takes some finess. A fomoto or ValvoMax drain plug would make it super easy which is likely the route I'm going at the next change.

I had the RCI skid, with door on previous truck. It was still a pita and could be messy. It was easier to just remove it. Same with new OEM plate.
