i remove it twice a year, the cover really helps. have had it like 7 yrs now and it turns very easy to this day. i think i pulled it last week when the wife and friend were stuck at breakfast from the snow storm we had. had to pull it to put a rope hitch on it.

but still good idea to follow you mentioned, thanks.

Today I went to the dealer to get the long awaited second key. Nearly seven months delay, but it was finally done.

Seven months ain't that bad, when the campaign first popped up I had people wait a year for their keys.

Also, that campaign should be all but wrapped up now. I haven't seen a single model line roll through with one key for probably 3 months, and we're usually 3 months behind the US market. I don't think I have any people waiting for keys either.

Volume knobs, and bed mats on the other hand...

I'd say throw some MudSlinger or something similar on those to help keep them clean/slick.

Because of pandemic nonsense, there was about a year where most vehicles were shipping with one key. Toyota North America basically had to decide if they were selling more cars with less keys, or more keys with less cars. They went the obvious route.

The easiest way to get keys out to owners was a an extended warranty campaign.

If you've got the app set up, you'll get a notification when the key is available to order at your local dealer, and then a snail mail notification letter as well. Depending on your build date, you should have already got that notification. If you haven't, check with your friendly salesclown and see if they have your VIN on their list of egilible vehicles. I can't speak to every store, but our process was call in, the notification should have a reference number or something like. You give them the number, they order the key and schedule a program at no cost to you. If you bought your truck outside of your local dealer's DMA, you can still have the campaign completed at your closest servicing dealer.

If you bought the truck used, you'll need to get in contact with the unfriendly service clowns and see if your truck is eligible for the "recall." And get them to do something called a CIC change while they're at it so TMCNA has your contact info on file for further recalls.

Edit for reading comprehension: you bought it used, you'll need to contact your local servicing dealer to see if its covered under the campaign, or if it was just traded in with one key. I'd say half our trades come in with one key.

Took out the Beatsonic amp. Realized that I had no audio in accessory mode if the amp was hooked up. Contacted beatsonic, sent some pics of the harnesses and they SOLD me another harness....wasn't expecting that at all, but whatever. Looks like they pinned it incorrectly so I have to pay to fix their f up. Which might be a good thing actually...found that my subs sound better w/o the lil amp feeding my LC2i. Might have a mini amp for sale here soon, new harness included.

    Lots of stuff!
Are those the AT4W's? Sounds like they are working out okay in the snow?

AT3w. They seem to be doing good but I put them on when the truck was new so I don’t really have another tire that I’ve run on this truck to compare. I know my previous 3 Tacoma’s (Gen 1, 2 and 3) feel a lot more capable in the snow regardless of tires, but that’s likely due to weight. Ko2’s on my second Gen felt almost unstoppable up to 16-18” of snow.
Last trip on the wildpeaks breaking trail to job site was around 10” or so of snow and 6km mostly up a pretty good incline most of the way and besides my dislike for the disconnected feeling between the drivetrain and forward momentum, the truck did great at 20psi with little slip.

Slapped on the new TOYOTA center caps. Didn't have to remove the wheels, just used a small pick and pried them off

I ordered the bronze Toyota centre caps for mine but Canada post is an absolute disaster. Last and only update was they picked up my parcel from shop January 7.

Found a new trd skid plate for half off. Install wasn’t bad except for the pita air dam, other than that took about 15 mins.

Just curious: did you move it from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side? Or do you now have two? If you have two, what’s the purpose…just to make it easier to get to?
