Tundra engine recall - interesting news

Mostly just internet research. Best off road trails in (wherever I’m going) and start sifting through reviews and photos.

Local off road clubs and recovery group websites can be helpful too. I’m also a little old school and still use these.



I will say an app you can plot a trail on the computer or phone and then have it available for offline navigation is very helpful - I use Gaia for that.

 

I did not mean to come of like a jerk or slang, but it is the internet. I know several people who live out there and they told me their routine before they go to bed.

Fox shocks with reservoirs will help on washboard roads or whoops (or anything high speed offroad), but don't offer much advantage for slow, technical stuff. They will improve overall comfort, which is great.

And thanks, yea the Taco has +2.5" (front)/+3" (rear) lift.

 

ok, we made it, the TRD lift kit does help off-road somehow, WOOHOO, I knew we could do it.

what about approach and departure angles, those are better with a lift even though the pumpkin is still lowest?

Wife's Mom has a place in AZ and yes they keep these flashlights beside the bed in case they have to get up to pee in the night. I've only seen it using a dead scorpion in their furnace room but yeah, they light right up.

I have lived in AZ my entire life. Scorpions are NOT a concern lol....nobody I know keeps a black light or a flash light with them to check for scorpions. It's really not a big deal.

And it depends on where you live ... my daughter in a newer housing development has them and us in a older area do not. We also have monthly pest control and haven't seen one in a few years. If we we were inudated with them like some new developments, I'd be checking.

 

Haven’t been stung - but the dogs have been. Everyone I know here that’s been stung compares it to a bee sting - if you aren’t allergic it’s no big deal.

We usually find a couple in the house each fall - there are plenty outside if you check with a black light.

I just see the 2/2.5 vs 3rd gen debate pointless. If my 08 5.7 didn’t get totaled I’d likely still be driving it and had 350K miles on it. But it didn’t work that way, and I dont buy used vehicles unless I know the owner. Lots of reasons for that and examples in this forum . So new for me only and there was no decision other than a Toyota. I really enjoy my truck, hauls my dirt bikes around fine, towed a car last weekend 600 miles no problem, has almost 70K on it no problem. So debating which is better is kinda pointless, my 3rd gen is a much nicer truck than my 08. Engine recall and full replacement, never happen with any of the other 1/2 ton brands. Only other thing I’d consider is a Dodge or GMC HD but it’s not needed for my purposes.

 

I won't kill them, just move them along so they don't get run over.

 

I only kill a rattlesnake if it gets inside my walled backyard. It gets expensive when they bite your dog.
