Passenger side headlight is out and I YouTubed how to take the grill off to access the bulb….only to find out that the bulbs I bought were not like the ones in there…& in a hurry to reassemble the headlights and grill before it got dark…I forgot to take a pic of the bulb that was in there. I’m not familiar with LED bulbs. It had a wire that plugged in like this w the screw on collar. And the bulb itself looked like this Sylvan bulb but this one for sale does not have a plug in wire coming out the end of the bulb. I did notice a small black screw on the side like this pic but what the heck is that for?

I will take off the grill again tomorrow and get some pics but was wondering if anyone knows what I am dealing with. Definitely annoying to have it take off the grill and partial front fender to change a friggen headlight bulb. Also, anything else I shud do in there while I have the grill off?

There are so many Amazon products, syles, and knockoffs that we can't guess or determine what you have until you post pictures of what is installed.

Gotchya! Thanks! Thats what I kinda figured after searching for 30 mins looking for the damn thing and seeing more Friggen LED bulbs than you can shake a stick at!! Can’t believe I forgot to snap off a pic. Welp…I will get practice taking the grill off again tomorrow…in the rain. Ugh

Just 1, assuming you have OEM halogen housings replace them with some that are designed for LED bulbs.

If the housing is made for a halogen bulb then the beam from the LED will not produce the correct beam pattern..

You can get good beam pattern if you get the diode dynamics set. But they are expensive though. I would save up and get the oem led headlights instead. Plus it look better. It update the front end real nice..

Looks like some sort of aftermarket led lights installed into the factory oem headlight housing. I would probably pull both and just go back to standard bulbs for both headlights. If you want to go led save up for some oem led headlights and use the ihacker harness which is the route I took with my 2017.

How do I go back to standard bulbs w the current situation? How much $ am I saving up for OEM headlights? Do I need an ihacker harness …looks like there is a harness already.

The original 3 prong plug is what to look for. Looking at your pics, there is a harness going into the black box. Looks like the OEM plug is connected to that harness ??

I guess you would replace the entire old kit with your new kit.
Over the years people have not had good results putting LED bulbs in the halogen housings.
Light patterns and scatter seem to be the issues.

I understand the 2018+ OEM LED upgrade is a big investment, and you already have an LED bulb setup.
If you are dead set on having LED bulbs in your halogen housings, I'd suggest VLEDs.
    They make great products..

Thanks! At this point I will pay anything to be done with this BS and just have some headlights.
I will watch the video to see what’s involved.

I swapped my housings out for some Profile LED retrofits with LED DRL bar. Ranks up there with best mods.

Watched it. Thanks! Don’t think I even have the wire clips. I wud rather just find one that has the silver press button that goes into my existing collar….i just found a pair at my local fancy truck store…but they tried selling it to me even though it didn’t have the memory/smart box….it just had the 3 prong plug n no box. I bailed out of sale. He said my old one had a fan and that’s why I had a memory box.

From the picture. You need to remove the rubber weather shield boot off the back of the headlight.. the led bulb you took out, it came off it's housing.. remove the rubber boot and you will see the spring that hold the bulb down..

I would think something has to be holding that collar in place..

Yeah. These typical cheaper led bulbs all over Amazon and ebay have those collar on them to help people "clock" them after install..this way the led go straight up and down.

Sometimes quitting is a good thing. A few weeks ago I was going to quit after dropping oil cap in hard to reach spot. I thought I am already dirty so might as well change PCV valve. Got in a hurry and snapped nipple on intake.
