Super stoked found this one owner 2016 tundra double cab sr5 4x4 75k miles at a ford dealership in SoCal (owner traded it in for a super duty) he took extremely good care of it and came with a bunch of goodies (weather tech floor mats front and back, wet okele seat covers) an aftermarket exhaust, tradesman camper shell (beyond happy) method wheels and trd pro grill and the part that tripped me out is its autonation ford so they claim you can’t haggle on used car prices and they were asking 28k which I thought was a really good deal for how clean it is but the kicker is after they listed it they put on brand new 35 inch LT dynapro at2 extreme tires and a brand new ac Delco battery replaced all the brake pads and wipers and did an oil change and even though the registration wasn’t due until may they “gave” me brand new registration with new plates all for 28k if it was a Toyota dealer (I bought plenty of used trucks from Toyota dealers) they would send you on your way with tires with no tread and change absolutely nothing but keep jacking up the price because it’s a Toyota and someone will buy it. I honestly feel like it’s too good to be true but maybe I’m just used to getting screwed over by Toyota dealers but this is defiantly my perfect forever dream truck (always wanted the 6.5 foot bed)

Congrats, looks great. That contractor style cap is cool too, lots of options there and has the wood rack. Doublecabs are intrinsically the best Tundras, crewmax are for hauling people, DCs are for getting work done! They must have swapped in the front Pro grill?

The previous owner put in the grill I’m sure if the dealer did they would have put a ford raptor style one on lol

That truck looks kind of familiar. I wonder if the previous owner was/is on Tundras.com?

Lol. If you do use it for work, just don’t ever look at your pinch welds under the front of the bed

Why is that? It will be my camping and surfing rig and for the occasional Home Depot run. I use a peterbilt semi truck as my work truck

I agree! I had a 21 crewmax which was an awesome rig but always wanted a longer bed for camping which I have now

Look up "pinch weld cracks" in the 2.5 Gen Tundras forum on here. A big thread documented the issue.

Basically the bed pinch weld lines up right on a cross member in the crew max configuration. In the double cab (same frame, longer bed) the front pinch weld sits a foot ahead of said cross member. Therfore any bed rack or cap that places significant weight on the front of the bed can have the tendency to cause cracking of those pinch welds.

That is not true my Volvo loving friend.

Just something to be aware of if you’re the static weight in the bed type and/or if you venture off-pavement in off-camber flexible situations often. There is zero support in the front 1’ of that (still short) 6.5’ bed. :D

Worth reading. Not everyone was overweight. Bed racks can tend to cause problems in DCs.

Nice score by the way. I’m really not trying to rain on your parade; I admit I was triggered by the “DCs are for work” comment

thank you for letting me know! It’s the pinch weld only by the rear bumper that’s to be concerned about right? I just checked mine on both driver and passanger side in the rain right now and doesn’t look to be cracked thank god, I wonder if bed stiffeners would help

No it's the pinch welds at the front of the bed.

Very nice find, and good looking Tundra!

Bonus score getting that full Bedrug in it. I added one and love it.

Gives you a nice bit of cushion for camping or when you need to get up in there and crawl around.

Your boards will thank you too.

    20230518_163159.jpg

Couple of cheap easy mods that I use a lot...

Get power and lights in the bed and you're dialed.

I have a a portable shower I use to rinse me, boards, and wetsuit off after a surf so it's nice to have a 12V right there.

The $35 Nilight LED Strips will light that shell up really well, super easy.

I wired both these things constant hot so I don't have to futz with anything in the cab, just pop the tailgate and BAM!

Look just in front of your fuel filler neck. If you're good there, you should be fine everywhere else

Yeah, I have a Leer cap, which is around 200 lbs, plus 50 lbs roof rack on top of it. Will be looking closely. If problem arises, I can weld and install a support bracket, I think.
