I'm on my 3rd Toyota truck (last one was a 2007 Tacoma) and my current vehicle is a 2024 Tundra SX.

The vehicle drives great but I have a problem with the brakes. When they are cold, they squeak loudly. A mechanic told me it is the metallic pads that causes the squeak sound and that Toyota knows about the issue. So why does Toyota continue to use metallic pads? Also, if my truck is still under warranty, what can Toyota do to resolve the squeaking?

After sending out the post, I did a search and found the TSB. I'll do searches before posting next time I use this forum.
    Thanks

FYI, parts are hard to come by for the TSB. I've been waiting for months.

Our dealership doesn't stock the AZ(231) for the New Tundra/Seq yet, we're using the OEM -02580 and updated -34040 OE style pads, the updated (34040) are HARD to get though... you also need to use updated shims/clips and rotors with a special gold dot on them

Tell me about it! I've been waiting for MONTHS for my dealer to get these parts. They can't provide any ETA and meanwhile my truck just squeaks and squeals worse every day.

Ughh, Toyota is a JOKE anymore... I am at my whit's end with them, after 45 years... the GST did a MAJOR shakeup of the Parts system over the weekend, only all they did is RUIN everything, lol... our new packing slips aren't sorted in ANY ORDER now (WTF?) and the bin locations that used to print on OUR label isn't there anymore so we have to manually look up WHERE the part sits on the shelf, STUPIDITY reins at Corporate anymore, the dumbing down of America is damn near complete...

nope, I double checked twice, its the upgraded parts. I emailed them the TSB.

Here is what they just emailed me back

    "Hello,

We do have parts in for your truck. All parts that were ordered are the current/correct ones listed on the TSB.

Everything is ready to go for your appointment on the 25th."

I have said before, Im lucky that I have an awesome dealer, I brought in the TSB and and wrote a little note on there that I had a squeal or two and would like this done. They didn't even drive it, just said ok no problem we'll order the parts, lol.

keep in mind, Toyota has regions and the Chicago region warehouse is right here, like 3-5 miles from the dealer, so other regions may not have the same thing going on. Also, the better dealers get better parts supply timing.

Fun Fact, my dad a long time ago opened that Parts distribution warehouse and ran it for a long time as a National Parts Distribution Manager, he was pretty high up in toyota. But that was long long ago and he is no longer with us :(

Did your local dealer want to see the truck first. I called mine and mentioned the TSB but they said they were not awear of the TSB they would need to see it first

thats standard for any dealer. I just make it easier for them so they can make it easier for me.

So, I printed out the full copy of the TSB and wrote a note on it for the tech, I did this when I took it in for the gas tank recall fix thingy. So they did the gas tank job and said, we'll order the parts, a week or two later the parts are now here, and I made an appointment (out a week or two since Ill be out of town) and they set up a loaner, no questions asked.

You are also NOT in GST, so that made your process much easier and faster than ours.

I know where you are, that's why I made the comment I did. GST sucks. I could live inside the GST PDC and still couldn't get parts.

Had my 10k service today. Mentioned my brakes squealing, showed a video I took of the squeal when backing out, as well as the TSB. Left me a message that they ordered me some new front brakes, but didn’t mention if they were back ordered. Hopefully doesn’t take too long to get them in.

I guess it depends where you are. I'm from Michigan and when I mentioned to them about ordering parts they had most on stock and ordered rotors from Canada and had my parts the next week. Good luck

EVERY parts order has to have the VIN included, only they forgot to tell the Dealers this (Months ago)... so, many orders were cancelled and no one followed up.
Working for Toyota now feels like GM of the late 1970s, out of touch with the reality of the market
