I would say the average aquarium size in most homes is a 10 gallon or smaller aquarium. Aquariums up to 40-55 gallons are still quite common but once you move past 55 gallons you get into the larger setups and that's when you need to give the overall weight of an aquarium, it's footprint and where it is located more consideration.

I love large aquariums but even I would pass on putting anything over 75 gallons on the 2nd floor of a house or apartment. The bigger the aquarium, the more mindful you need to be on where you are putting it and if the floor can support the weight.

I know many aquarium enthusiasts turn their garages/basements into fish rooms as the ease of placing large aquariums and indoor ponds on a concrete slab can't be beat. You also have less to worry about when it comes to the inevitable water spills that occur when doing maintenance on a tank. A few spilled gallons on concrete is a non-issue but would ruin carpeting/carpet padding.

Was able to finally get to Ikea and grabbed a night stand to use as an aquarium stand as I wanted the drawers to hold aquarium stuff. Here she sits as of this morning in her 13.5 gallons of glory:

It is supposed to be a peninsula setup, so I think this orientation looks better and will have it facing this way. It will also keep the various cords/cables out of sight giving everything a cleaner look:

We dealt w/a very similar situation but instead of it being an aquarium, it was a large safe...

Essentially, most residential construction in vegas is built on concrete slab. So, we move into the home and have safe deliverred and bolted into the concrete... easy peasy

However, when we moved to the PNW, pretty much all homes are built over a crawl space (except for garages which are on slab obviously)...

Anyhow, we end up dragging our safe from vegas to here, and when it was time to install it the movers were wanting it in the garage. Our garage is detached, so that's a hard pass due to the 'contents' of the safe...

But now, we've got to not only worry about getting this damn thing up a few stairs to the slider we're trying to decide where to give it a home. So, we end up trying to figure out where in a bedroom would be ideal and essentially allow it to land over some decent support structure as it's over 1000lbs dry and probably close to your tank when loaded... definitely gave us some concern not only moving it, but in not waking up one day to find the freakin thing dropped through the floor and is hanging out in the crawl space

It's definitely easy to forget how heavy water is... Really surprises me on how many people have small spas sitting on an upper deck w/o proper reinforcement to support the weight of the spa

I like your temp solution, but excited to see something a bit more elaborate once you get it figured out!!!!

I had a little memory today of when I was younger and ever riding around in a car with my dad or uncles, and it always seemed like anyone listening to AM talk radio was slightly angry, strange, old, and the very definition of un-cool. I remembered this whilst listening to a Joe Rogan podcast on my way home from the dentist.

Had 14 or so inches of fresh this am. Woke up early to deal with the driveway so I could squeeze a 5 hour session in. Good stuff.

I haven't driven the truck since December 17th so I threw a battery charger on it to make sure it's good to go when I leave for work at 6:30 tomorrow morning. Turns out the gas struts won't hold the hood up when it's this cold so I had to do everything with the damn thing resting on my head.

My struts are starting to do that too. I just lightly clipped a set of vise grips on one to hold the hood up. I'll order new struts eventually.

Any of you ever try one of those Korean BBQ joints? My wife has mentioned one she saw and might want to try. We rarely eat out and don't usually celebrate shit, but next week is our 25th (known each other for 30, but made it official in 2020) so I thought we would give it a shot. Since I have the day off, probably go for a late lunch to avoid a crowd, cause old people like us eat early, and a bonus of being cheaper. This is the place she mentioned, anything I should get?

Brisket and bulgogi are good, and you would probably like the flavor... just gonna have some sweet mixed in the sticky heat.

If you don't mind fattier cuts, spicy pork belly has really good flavor...

    Congrats and enjoy!!!!

That's a stretch to assume that the same philosophy wouldn't apply. Pun intended.
