    I recently purhased a 2025 Tundra Platinum

I choose the platinum because had read it was better for towing and came equipped with the air bags. Sadly even though I have the towing packing on it, there are no airbags and I can hardly tow my work trailer and I cant haul my boats. My boats gross weight is 8600 for one and just under 10,000 on the newest boat. If I try and hook up my hitch just goes straight the to the ground.

I called my dealership to inquire about adding air bags and was told there is nothing they can do, if it was not installed at the factory there is nothing that they can do about it. Surely others have had this issue and figured out how to resolve the issue.

Did it ever occur to you to confirm your truck had the air suspension before buying it?

FYI, it's not on all Platinums. It's an additional option included in the Advanced Package.

What did your window sticker say and what packages are on the truck? The platinum doesn’t come standard with load leveling suspension, it’s a package that costs extra.

The old uninformed buyer. Sorry OP that you didn't read the Moroney sticker before purchase. There are aftermarket options out there for you that I am sure someone will help you out with. Good luck.

    Too many, but not enough....
Airbags aside, why not get a truck with more capabilities? Riding at max tow capacity is not advisable all the time.

Air bags, sumo springs, weight distribution hitch. A few options available. I came from an F250 Diesel, never needed anything to tow.
I now have a 24 Limited & added Sumo springs to rear and have a weight distribution hitch for when needed. It'll pull fine, but you will definitely need a little help with rear sag.

I get that some people don't want to do a domestic truck but when it comes to numbers, sometimes there's just no choice.

I feel like this is an improper tongue weight issue. I have a Limited, no Advanced Pkg. When I hook up my 22' inshore boat the hitch barely moves down. Tows it with ease and I don't even know the boat is there. Gross weight is about 6500 lbs.

I believe the truck is rated for 11,000 lbs towing, and I don't doubt it would tow it with no problems.

Tongue weight should be 10% of gross weight.

i'm not completely familiar with the 3rd gen Tundra but is there an issue preventing a person from having them installed after the fact?

agree, but to newer folks to trucks and towing it can be clear as mud, thats what I was getting at.

    I have a 10K trailer, it's rated for 11K, WTF?

I can see that view point, for those of us that are into this, ya, we are like...

how the fuck can you tow that with this payload rating while handling 15% tonque, etc, lol

I wonder if he just dropped it on there with no WDH or the trailer is front heavy

Either add air bags from an aftermarket, not that difficult to do.
    Or
Add sumo springs which will take you 15-20 minutes to do. Both will help dramatically.

So it had posted a question in the Gen 3 forums but got no response so I'll ask you instead.

I had a 2020 TRD Pro. I was over my GVWR when I towed a travel trailer and had a bunch of stuff in the covered bed. After that I would load differently and keep stuff towards the rear of the camper. Ultimately the nagging thought of "am i over my GVWR?" prompted me to trade in on a 2024 GMC 2500 denali Duramax. Nice truck. Tows like a champ. But definitely overkill.

We are trading in a leased vehicle soon and we are considering getting a small pickup.....Ranger raptor, Tacoma, etc...etc....

But one thought I had was trading the Denali in on a 2025 Tundra. It seems they have a higher payload and towing capacity than my 2020 did.

How do you like your 24? Any issues? I'm not sure what to believe on the forums and on youtube. Seems there may still be an engine issue or some quality control issues one would expect from a domestic brand as opposed to a Toyota.

Just looking for input from those that have them.

If we did the switch to a Tundra then we would NOT get another smaller pickup for running around town and such.

    Thanks,
    JT

If you are regularly towing anywhere near 10,000 lbs, please do everyone on the road a favor and get more truck. You're a liability to everyone on the road, these vehicles have ratings for a reason. Just because airbags will level out the ride, doesn't mean it's an HD truck.

My father-in-law did this with a Rav4 some years ago... He showed us his new car, then I asked him why he didn't get AWD. Let's just say he wasn't happy. I guess he just assumed they all came with AWD?

WOW . . . Tough crowd today! OP joined today to ask for help on a $70K purchase he now might regret.

OP you are in a tough spot with your Platinum and trying to tow that much. Can we ask what was you previous tow vehicle?
If towing the larger boat is something you do often, I would suggest (as others have mentioned) a 3/4 ton or larger rig designed to tow larger loads. If you truck is nearly new, you might be able to swing a deal on a slightly used larger truck. I would go down that road rather than trying to make your Platinum handle such a large load.

    Good luck . . .
