Looks pretty good but like the Wildpeaks I bet the pick up and launch gravel like mad.

Looks interesting. Would be better if they had a 3 ply sidewall but they are AT tires. 3 peak is nice for colder climates.

Yeah a 3 ply sidewall would be nice. A 285/75R18 weighs in at 59 pounds, so they aren’t super heavy.

Check out the Cooper Rugged Trek. Seems similar just maybe a bit beefier.

That’s a new one I haven’t seen before. Since Goodyear acquired Cooper a few years ago, they’ve been shaking things upon. They just replaced the AT34S with the Road+Trail, which is a similar tread pattern to this tire. I wonder if they are replacing the AT3 LT and AT3 XLT with this stronghold AT?

The Cooper AT3 is a fantastic tire. I wonder if sales slumped or they innovating. Or if Goodyear is cannibalizing Cooper… Either way, I hope it’s the next step. The look like a great tire on paper.

Order some up and let us know how they rode!

They are not 3 peak rated.

They are in a few select sizes, but, most are not. This disappointed me. Looking at Cooper's website, it looks like they are tapering down production and have greatly limited tire sizes, eliminated LT tires completely from the offerings. I'm guessing Goodyear is shutting the tire line down?

I rolled the dice on these (sort of) and ordered up a set to put on some new 18 x 9's. (Replacing TRD OR 20's on Mildpeaks.) Tire Rack says this size is backordered and should be coming in about Christmas/New Years.
I've had other Coopers in the past, my wife currently has them on her RAV4, and all have been great tires.
This will be my first set of E-load tires however. Will weigh and compare to stockers and give some feedback once I get them mounted up.
I know they'll be heavier, I know I'll lose mpg, but no more skipping leg day look. Can't stand it anymore.

Tire Rack got them to me on Monday, 12/16, earlier than expected.
But, they sent the wrong lug nuts and/or drive socket, so waiting on a replacement.
It took their CS almost a week to respond to an inquiry, if that's any indication of how things go now after the Discount Tire takeover/merger/buyout whatever it was.
While waiting on them I ordered my own replacements from Scamazon; they'll be here tomorrow.

It will likely be after the holidays anyway because I need to get the Bilstein 5100's on first and get the front leveled/lifted.

Of course the one time I buy a big something without doing enough research....

Ranks last (12th out of 12) in Tire Rack's recent AT tire comparo in street manners.

    FML

They better be f'ing beasts in the snow and off road!

My daughter likes her Cooper tires and our driveway is a 4x4 road. On the highway they work good also.

Did you get these installed yet? Curios on how you like them. I ordered a set yesterday and should have them on Wed.

Nope, I'm a couple weeks out yet. Haven't had time, doing it myself and I want to do it all at once. (Level with 5100's and tires.)
Check back in here once you have them on!!

Got mine installed yesterday and no complaints!
Runs smooth down the highway and better than the KO3's I bought 2 weeks ago. (IMO)
I got these to replace the KO3's as they were horrible, I did not like them.
Back in the day I used to run the old KO's and loved them, not sure what happened.
You wont regret buying these Coopers. So far very happy I went this route!

Finally got the 5100's done, Coopers mounted up and front end aligned.
Have only driven about 35 miles on them so thoughts are really preliminary at this point.
At 35 psi as recommended by the off road shop that aligned it: they ride really decent. They feel fine so far.
The issue is not anything ride related.
They are NOT a quiet tire. A constant hum in the background that takes a fair amount of radio volume to drown out.
Hopefully I can get used to it and live with it/them long term.

Yeah that's one thing I did notice but I can live with it.
They ride better than the KO3's I had.
Looking to see how they do off-road. had it on a steep gravel hill with no slippage. Pulled me right up.
Headed to some fire roads this weekend and will see how the do.
Need to test them in the sand as well. Probably in a couple of weeks.

I've been running Cooper AT3's since 2010. Just put on some Stronghold AT's in 297/70r18.

On road performance seems pretty good but I've just had them around town. I won't know much more until I get them into the North Maine Woods in July.

I just replaced my at3 xlt's with strongholds (both 275/70/18) two weeks ago and went on a 2000 mile road trip with my trailer. They are quiet enough, feel very smooth on the highway. Mpg didn't change from the xlt's.

Got to use them on some neglected forest service roads with some pretty significant grade changes and wet gravel/mud/ruts. They served me very well, only 4wd needed was when I had to back the truck and trailer combo half a mile back uphill on a single width road because some jackwagon in a Hyundai Tucson with bald all seasons made it all the way out and then got stuck coming back up a wet muddy hill. Car was abandoned in the middle of the forest with no one in sight. Didn't attempt the backup in 2wd, just went straight to 4lo to make it easy.

We'll see how they wear as time goes on, but I feel like I gave them a good test and am happy with my purchase.

I’ve got these on a 21. 1200 miles or so. Fairly loud. Not bad. Ride great. I think they’re a tick heavier than advertised. 285/70/18. No off-road yet. Good looking tires

Weight comparison to my OE Mildpeaks:

    265/60/20 Falken Wildpeak AT3wa: listed at 38#
285/75/18 Cooper Discoverer Stronghold AT: listed at 58#
(for reference, same size BFG K03 comes in at 66#)

+20 pounds per corner sounds terrible, at least to me, but....

I went from the OE 20" TRD Off Road wheel at 37# to the
aftermarket 18x9 at a listed weight of 25.3#

The actual (versus listed) numbers of mounted wheels and tires are slightly different, but not much.
Mounted OE 20's weighed in at 73.9#
Mounted 18's weighed in at 85.1#
for a difference of +11.2# per corner. Not quite as terrible.

    I'm sure it's a little slower, but I can't really feel it.
Taking a noticeable hit on mpg, but that was to be expected.

First impressions with these tire : Not too noisy, very smooth for LT tire . I was able to ride them in the snow and they have good grip on snow but on ice they are not great. These are AT tire so they are not for icy roads . I did not have the chance to try them off road but I'm sure they are good

    Umm, yep.
See same link and video in post #15 above.

Roughly 500 miles on them so far. Just pavement. Wet and dry, no snow.
Other than being loud, I like them.
It's unfortunate, because they're great otherwise.
Ride quality is really good considering they're "E" load.
They feel composed and handle roundabouts just as quickly as the 20's did.
