Is it a kit or something you pieced together on your own?

Did the charger you bought include the piece that actually holds the charger in place that mounts to the bottom of the console lid?

Nice! Looks like a clean and easy install. How did you attach it? If you can share the actual product you used that would be great and might help others that might want to do this same mod, including myself!

You wasted your time. The plastic is still too thick to effectively charge any phone that isn’t over 5 years old. All you made was a center console warmer.

Many of the oem and aftermarket chargers have been known to overheat and stop charging…..I think that’s all he was saying. I have installed 3 so far and it always stopped charging or overheated after about 10-15 minutes. Hope you have better luck

it works for all my androids and iphones from 5% to fully charged daily without any issue. I do not represent any OEM or aftermarket charger vendors but do take advantage of Amazon return policy as needed.

Do these allow AA or Carplay to function fully without the cable? Or are they simply to allow for charging without a cable?

Gotcha. I don't understand the need/desire for wireless charging if you have to plug in the phone for full functionality, so I'll add it to the list of mods I won't spend my money on. TEHO though.

True. Thinking outside the box can also mean questioning the need or usefulness of doing something.

Cut the OP some slack. Dude has 12 posts and he is trying to be a contributing member already. Beats 12 posts about lifts, tires, and how to get 30mpg.

Toyota sells a wireless charging insert for this space also. (I installed it in mine). So all he did was creat his own version of the same idea.

    Props for sharing OP.

You're right. Good job on the OP for figuring out a different way of doing it.

Ive been running a similar setup in my 2016 for the last several years. It was one of the earliest mods i did right after i bought the truck.
It has charged my last 3 Androids without issue, my BIL iPhone and any other phone capable of wireless charging.

    Nice work !

For those like me with '20+ that have CarPlay and did a wireless CarPlay adapter, console wireless charging is flawless since you don't need no stink'n wires. That said, I still haven't installed the wireless charger yet.

Is the wireless CarPlay adapter still a dongle that needs to be plugged in to the port?

It does, but you stealth install it under the center console, out of sight.

How often does it lag or glitch? When I am connected to the head unit by blueooth, it can often be frustrating when on a call or streaming audio content.

I don't really have many issues. Takes a few seconds to register/connect as I'm putting my seatbelt on, leaving the parking spot/driveway. So long as I don't start the truck say on a cold morning, it connect, and then I walk away and it disconnects, it's pretty dang flawless. It was one of the first mods I did, and I specifically sought out a '20+ for CarPlay knowing I'd do the wireless dongle. I've got a CarLinkIt setup.

I use a dongle for wireless Apple CarPlay as well. I find that it works great and is even less glitchy than the wired connection.

I’ve been tempted to install a wireless charger. I’d really only need it on road trips. For now, on long drives, I switch to the wired connection but it would be nice to not have to do that.
