So now I'm confused. You have a cookie? This whole time I thought you were packing a sausage. But now knowing you have a cookie, your financial decisions are so much more clear to me. I'll make a note for myself going forward.

Paid my out-of-pocket for my new hearing aids today after testing them for a week, Octicon Intent 1.
SO much better than the Costco Kirkland hearing aids I've been using.
Even though I've been wearing HAs for 7 years, it's like having them for the first time.
I tested 3 different brands and these were the best for my needs with my high-frequency hearing loss...

Costco is great for an entry-level budget-minded HA, but you get what you pay for when it comes to HAs.
People will say that's not true, but those people never tried higher-end HAs.
The cheaper HAs made everything louder, brighter, and tinny without actually hearing what I needed to hear.
    These Octicons are awesome..

I'm on my second pair of Oticon, Real 2 this time. The sound is great. I didn't think I'd care about the blue tooth, but I really like it. Especially for changing the volume with my phone as needed. I also got the TV adapter and that's a game changer. I give my wife volume control on the remote and adjust to suit for me on the HA. Plus I can mute the TV entirely, like when she's reading, and control it in my ears with disturbing her.

Reading reviews, it looks like the Intent is better in crowd noise than the Real. I'll look into them next time, but that'll be in about 7 years based on my previous pairs.

Thanks for the info on the TV adapter, my audiologist talked with me about it..
I like that it is independent of the TV volume, I might be looking into that soon.

Testing these out this last week I was able to watch TV with the wife without using closed captions...
The TV adapter would be great for when she goes to bed and I'm still up, which is a lot lately with me not working....

I should add, my TV audio goes through my receiver via HDMI. The inputs on the adapter are RCA ooptical. I've got the adapter connected to the optical output. If you're using your TV speakers, I'm not sure how that would work.

The TV audio runs through a ZVOX soundbar via a TOSLINK cable, the TV speakers are off.
I'd probably need a TOSLINK splitter to get the signal to both the soundbar and the TV adapter.

Oticon TV Adapter 3.0 - Hearing Aid Accessory

Great timing as the wife wants the TV and soundbar moved over a bit after 13 years of it being where it is...:eek2:
When I mounted the TV and bar, she had different furniture, now she wants it in the middle of that wall.
I have to take all this down and move the mounts to the left about 8 inches or so..
I'd have to move all this to run another cable anyway..
    Happy wife, well, you know..

    Hot take:

Why do I have a beard? Because I'm not a women or a child.

Shaving is for women and men who think they're women.

Nah, this 8-year-old OLED is fine.
I'm not one to buy a new, bigger TV when the one we have fits our needs.
I hardly watch much TV anyway unless it is with my wife.
She certainly doesn't want a bigger screen, it would fuck up her design planning.

SIL just bought a 100"+ with his tax return, he had a 90".
It's too big for his living room.
Money would have been better used to pay off existing debt, but it's not my money..

I think they're lemons. Do all kinds of weird shit on their own.
Oh, and I hate them. I take them out the minute I get home from work. Hate the sound, but I like hearing clearly.

I cannot stand having facial hair. It drives me absolutely nuts. I've tried to grow a beard two or three times in my life and every time I get super annoyed with it and get rid of it. When I wear any motorcycle or dirtbike helmet the hairs get pulled. And I typically will have some sort of helmet on 4 or 5 days a week.

Shaving habits are a whole different thing. I have to shave every day. Even if I'm camping. Out comes the electric razor. It's usually good for a good laugh from my buddies. But then again, I have a lot of quirks that make my buddies laugh.

John Wayne shaved.. beards don't equal masculinity.

My girls haven't seen me without a beard. Personally, I can't stand a clean shaven face.

I've only had Beltone and Oticon. I like the Oticon better. Plus visits to Beltone turned into upgrade sales pitches.
If you can allord it, I recommend looking into Oticon. I go to the audiologist at my ENT now, no sales pitch.
I can't function without them, taking them out isn't an option.

I'm not following all your numbers. $63k is what the dealer had it listed for and $45k is what you agreed to? Or does the $45k include the trade in on the Ford?
