2018 LED Fog Light Installation Instructions w/Pics

Yes the fog light part is plug and play. The DRL uses it's own controller and switch. So if you don't want the DRL function you can just add them as fogs.

I took a flathead and gently pried the fog light housing/bezel out to get to the harness. Installed my ballasts and HIDs then popped the housing back in.

 

Screw driver equals . You can use a plastic panel pry tool in the future. Cheap at harbor freight

 

Nice thing about Auer, is they pay labor for replacement under warranty.

 

Auer is what dealerships uses as factory equipment, they manufacture and sell specifically for Toyota applications

 

We use them as a reliable alternative to factory equipment. I have there led fog in my truck and have never had an issue

If you guys go LED on the interior, let me save you a couple minutes of pure frustration. Passenger side, map light. When putting new bulb in, be careful. Disconnect battery and pry open the copper prongs that hold the bulb slightly. Otherwise, you may push the prongs up into the console. What really happens, is the prongs are part of a PC board. However, this side is only tied in by a single plastic nipple. It's easy to push that prong off the nipple. If it happens, don't waste time trying to pry it down into place. Will do more damage. Just remove the overhead console. 2 Screws in sunglass holder, pull back from the front, and down from rear. Disconnect harness, then look at the top. Pop the circuit back onto the nipple, all is good.

 

I went the long route fearing the blue clips but my truck didn’t have the blue clips. Lol

@BayRunner , @BlueBottle , thank you very much for these instructions. I installed the '18 LED Fog lights and then the headlights yesterday. Your instructions helped me save time AND I did not break the clips! These types of DIY really help a lot. First, I removed the wheel well panels and replaced the fog lights, and tested operation, leaving the panels off until I could check for proper aim when the headlights were done. Next, I removed the grille and panels underneath the headlights. Removed old headlights; installed new headlights with harness from @eledobleu. Then, checked aim, adjusted driver side (which was a little higher than passenger side). Finally, reinstalled all panels and grille. Took my time (4 hours total from unbox to cleanup) and they work great!

Is there any way to tell if my fog lights have the (Blue) clip without removing the wheel well liner?

 

I don't think so. The only way I was able to tell was looking through the wheel well. You have a '17, so you most likely do have one.

 

I read this thread and it created some trepidation regarding the clips. there is no need for any, this is truly a 20 minute job. Remove the bolts like the OP said. Regarding the wheel well splash guard; gently use a pry tool or flat head to help each tab then simply rotate the panel down for removal. use no fore or aft force. the whole panel simply rotates down or back up into position. with the clips pried slightly up, there is nothing holding it so it just comes right out. when you install it will lock back into place.

My '15 did not have the blue clip but you need to get back there to aim them anyways. mine lined up out of the box though.

 

Thanks for this info. I didn't have any issues either, but was glad that the plastic tab concern was pointed out so I could use a trim tool to move it out of the way.

 

Did you have to do anything else besides plug in the new fog's?? I just put some 2018 oem fogs on and now my fogs don't turn on. I checked fuses and they are good. Plugged stock back in and still nada.

 

make sure your ignition is on, headlights are on, and fog lights are on. if you've done all that make sure you connected the harness properly to each bulb

 

Checked and rechecked all that. Is there another way to connect them? I only see one way they can connect. The fins prevent it from going in the other way. I am stumped with this. Thank you for the info

 

@BayRunner Thank you so much for your post! I have a 2017 Tundra Limited, and your instructions worked perfectly.

Couple of notes to share. My Limited did not have the blue tab. However, I still found it easier to take off the back panel before popping out the fog lights. It is very hard to negotiated it out otherwise.

However, I'm going have to get back there to adjust the Morimoto XB LED fog lights. THey are pointing too high. Does any one know which way to turn to go down? Hopefully I can just reach through there w/o remove it all off again.

@BayRunner Tried to do a night shot but there was too much glare. Day shot here..

One thing, I did notice with the morimotos. They are point too low, I will need to level it one evening. Unfortunately, that means I will have to take off all the panels again. Hope I can reach back there with the screwdriver to adjust the height.

 

Looks good. I like it. I wouldn't worry about having to take the panels off to aim them. Now that you have experience doing it, it will be no big deal. You now know exactly what to expect.

LED foglights are part of the TRD Offroad Package OF for 2018 SR5's and standard on Limited and 1794 editions. I wish they had made all the lights LED (I am referring to turn signals and the rear lights. I'm looking for LED replacements for those)

I've never had much luck working with plastic pieces. I end up breaking plastic tabs and the like as they seem to get brittle. I was afraid changing the burned out headlights in my BMW would destroy the car. But I didn't want to spend $400 per light replacing them. (You have to remove the front tire and fender well to gain access to the headlights and just after I replaced one, the other went out.)

 

Anyone know if they make yellow bulbs for the 2018 fog lights?

 

The '18 LED fogs utalize the whole light assembly and do not use a separated bulb and therefor do not offer yellow.
