Anyone see the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler? The interior has totally been redone. IMO it looks really good.

I sold my Tundra earlier this year and have been reading up on different vehicles. If the Tundra is redesigned sometime soon, I will come back, but if not I will be going with something different. This one definitely catches my eye. Anyone have experience with the newer jeeps?

I thought modding a tundra was expensive, NOT. Some of the crap you can do to a jeep is ridiculous money. 6-8K for each axle, yikes.

... and the one I priced out was 51K MSRP! Rubicon unlimited loaded.

    My questions to you is:

    - What are your plans with your next vehicle?

    - if your looking at axle upgrades before you buy, I would look used, and for a Hemi swapped and an axle upgrade. You will be at the price, but done and the Jeep can actually get out of its own way. The JKU actually weighs about the your old Tundra.

Depends on the company. My 04 Tundra is an R title truck, used a loan to purchase and have full coverage.

The reason the new jeep intrigues me is because they have an updated interior with all the new technology. I follow a few people on instagram and the builds that stand out to me are below. I would replicate something like that. Wouldn't be into rock climbing that much, more of just an explorer/expedition type of rig.

Sleeve the axles, put some 5.13 gears in, enjoy. Get extended warranty from 3rd party.

Got to weigh the money though. I might be better off with a full size truck for what I want to do. Those aftermarket parts are no joke. I still have a lot to learn, been doing a ton of research lately.

What @COMiamiFan said, is truth. I have around 26-30k into mine and I did all the fab work except the front axle since I didn’t have an axle jig and alignment bar at the time. Do now.

Jeeps are not great daily drivers...and I would never trust one on a daily basis.

A 250/2500 sounds like a better deal. It'll already have a big motor and strong axles.

I'll agree to a point, they for sure aren't the best handling or comfortable but they are fun to drive. Before I bought my Tundra I had owned 7 Jeeps a 95 Wrangler, 03 Wrangler, 98 Cherokee, 99 Cherokee, a 2nd 99 Cherokee, 05 Grand Cherokee and an 07 Patriot.

Most had 50k+ miles on them when I bought them and none left me stranded with the exception of the Patriot that we bought new, that was hands down the worst vehicle I've ever owned.

Now most of them had weird noises and sometimes not everything was working properly but they always got me to work and home.

Should also be noted that they were mostly stock also, usually just enough lift to fit 31's.

The older ones aren’t as bad, but when they went to the coil packs and distributor-less motors like your 2003, reliability went with it. My 97 TJ was pretty solid. My current 03 has been interesting to say the least. Glad I have a tow rig, and I will leave it at that.

Never heard of them. Are they a smaller co-op insurance company? I seen they have been around since 1925.

The big insurance companies like Progressive, American Family, and USAA won’t the last time I checked.

They're across 12 states on the east coast and traded on the NASDAQ so I'd say they're pretty large lol. I'm assuming it helped that I wasn't the first owner after it was retitled in 2014.

Not sure on the newer Jeeps but the older ones would basically run forever as long as they have oil and coolant. The 99 my parents have now has 280k on it and pretty much every one I listed above had 150k on the clock and were running fine. Rust is what kills them in my area anyway rocker panels and fender wells are the first to go.

I think Jeep is sort of like a cult. There are a lot of people who just love it. My co-worker bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler unlimited. Been to a shop quite frequently for various issues. Then sold it after a few years then bought another Jeep. (She does not go off road)

Maybe insurance companies are lightening up on rebuilt or salvaged titles, considering vehicles are so expensive nowadays.

I kinda want a new rubicon. But not at 50k. I’m sure the current JK’s will drop in price as a lot of owners will jump onto the new chassis. Might be some good opportunity to purchase a used Rubicon that is trail ready!

You'd think that but probably not. Wranglers hold their value ridiculously well, the 04-06 Unlimited Rubicons are still anywhere between 15-20k when they stickered for around 30k brand new.
