@COMiamiFan Is there something wrong with the old gas tank skid plate?

Nope. I believe he was just adjusting some bends and improving the fitament. If we could only get @RCIoffroad to jump in here . . .

Actually, I just saw a skid for the 38 gallon and all the nuts were exposed. I was pretty shocked to see it designed like that because their front skids are awesome and even on my 26 gallon skid, the bolt heads were all recessed. Those nuts are all going to eventually get sheared off for any serious off-roader. I would think that's what they're redesigning because I definitely wouldn't buy one the way it is now.

I might be the new version because he redid the plate when I was there in November at the same time he did the front. So might be the new version. I texted him and asked him to jump in here and get back to y'all.

Who doesn't wheel with their nuts exposed?

Yes, I bought it based on the the images of the 26 gallon one, and online description. Mine had other issues as well, but it just does not cover the whole tank, nowhere near the TRD, and at least the TRD doesn’t have nuts hanging down. It was a bad experience for me, and RCI would not respond. I was going to sell it at a loss, but didn’t feel right passing it off.

My 38 gallon skid covers the entire tank, it is just the exposed nuts that concerns me. Like @joonbug said, it is surprising since they take some much care in the design of the other skids. I sent them a message, but didn't get a response.

Shocked you did not get a response... If it is not too much trouble could you pm me some pics of the coverage? Mine leaves much unprotected, especially compared to the oe one.

Hopefully @RCIoffroad will chime in and let us know about any updates to the gas skid. Hopefully @pelfreybilt will get in on this skid plate action and let us know what's going on with their skids for Tundras.:boink:

How is it changing the filter through the little trap door on the RCI skid plate? Looks like it would be pretty tight.

They still owe me the extra shipping charge they charged me when I added on the tank straps and had already paid for shipping and they shipped the straps in the same box as the skid...i was even told no extra shipping charge. That's what happens when they don't send you an invoice then they do 2 months later. I've emailed them and they said they were refunding me but nothing..

@pelfreybilt should be somewhat local to you. You should bug him and see if he’s making some for our trucks. He’s done bumpers and sliders already!

And those look great! He brought his truck out to our recent SoCal meet-up, and it was very impressive. I hope to drop by hisshop later this month and will report out on any news of skid production.
