Train Horns... what do i need?

I'm set to pick up some horns this week, but Im curious to what all I will need.

- compressor
- tank
- hoses of some kind (?)

I need a pretty big set up, I think at least 5-10 gallon tank for the horns ill be running.
(Nathan Airchime) but what else?

any input would be appreciated, thanks!

 

I believe they sale kits for around 500 bucks with everything u need. Im very temted to order a ser

 

ive been looking at the for awhile. im going to check them out this week to make sure they work. but definitely want to make sure im not missing any key components.

I would like to upgrade the horn too, but I am not spending that kind of money. I wonder if just switching the horn itself would help since these sound so puny?

well the horns themselves are very expensive, but iv found these for a fraction of the price used. Once I know they work, ill most likely pull the trigger. its something that ive been thinking about doing, but didn't want to spend a whole lot on. but im a sucker for deals lol

Im only picking up the horns, so ill need to purchase everything else.

 

A buddy has a tugboat horn mounted under the hood on his Dodge. When he blasts that one, you will jump out of your skin practically. Looks very similar to what was pictured above. He has big fun with that one at the appropriate times!!

 

I have an arb Compressor and two 2.5 gallon tanks installed already. Just waiting to install it this summer...

Ive been getting cut off quite a bit, to the point I have to lock up my wheels. so this should suffice until I get bumpers lol

 

I had a old dule truck horm i was kicking around the gerage, put a Viair comp under the hood. Think it was around $200

never would have thought a comp could fit there.. what size is that? im going to fab some kind of mount that will sit where my spare is. I should have more than enough clearance with my lift. but these horns are heavy, as they are cast aluminum I believe

 

I’m running Nathan K5’s with 2 5gallon tanks.

 

Horn blasters does sell a spare tire delete kit if you want to mount your compressor, tank and horns in one simple mount. This makes for a very clean and easy install. The spare tire kit sells for $199. You will still need the rest of the kit.

 

This is sick. Are the 2 5 gallons necessary? Or you just lay on that damn horn? lol

 

My buddy had actual train horns on his simi and ran 1/2 pipe and a ball valve to operate.

 

I like the do’s equis bottle in the pic. Beer and wrenching is always a good time!

 

5 gallons is more than enough but the more air you have the longer you. An hold them down.

 

yeah love this set up. im gonna look a little further into it, I need to see how these horns would mount.

 

I’ll try and get a pic later today, I had to weld a plate where the spare tire was mounted to mount the horns.

 

Not to poke at a dead thread, but did you ever get that setup finished? interested to try myself.
