I will admit I have been a vehicle whore in my past but I have finally found a vehicle that’s does everything I ask for it to do and it’s a 2017 that’s paid off so I’m keeping it!
I’ve always wondered what if any engine power loss is seen on higher mileage vehicles?
Please chime in if you have high mileage experience.

You might see some losses if you have abnormal wear on the motor (loss of compression or poor injector performance). I would be surprised if you lose 5% at 200+K miles.

That’s not bad. I assume good maintenance is a key factor.

And that’s a big maybe on they 5%. A simple compression test would help get Data.

I’m at 180k and mine still runs like a scalded ass ape, can still do a alright burnout on 35s also

Nice! Good to know. Have you been keeping up on all the maintenance?

Wife’s Corolla has 378,000 km, started to lose some fuel economy and a slight bit of power. (maybe, butt dyno results may vary). Did the plugs last year since it was due anyway - no noticable improvement. Didn’t persue it further ‘till it coded for catalyst efficiency, then the code went inactive on it’s own. (She was out of town on a trip) Since cats don’t fix themselves, I assumed it was one or both of the O2 sensors at fault, and brought the parts cannon and fired 2 new sensors at it, since they were both well past expected lifespans. Fuel economy restored to it’s former glory, power is right back up...

Long story short, if the engine has no loss of compression, then any power or fuel economy loss would be a fuel / air / ignition issue, not a mechanical engine issue.

BTW, the million mile 4.7 Tundra passed dyno performance testing for a NEW engine.

Oil change every 7k ish miles, I’m ashamed to say that today was the first time I changed the transmission, transfer case, and front diff fluid... I’ve had my motor oil tested twice (40k miles apart and both while I was over 100k) and they came back better than average. I have done the SABM and have long tubes and full exhaust also, so that may help...
