just installed some 33"s TOYO Open Country R/T. Really like them so far. Quieter than the pro comp I had previously.

Glad to hear that. That's one of the tires I have my eye on.

I had these on my Tacoma as well (285 75 16). yes, they are loud, but they performed fantastic on the Tacoma; especially during the Massachusetts winters. I had about 4/32's left on them after 55k miles (you have to rotate them every 5k miles and keep them properly inflated). I highly recommend them, but Mickey Thompson is discontinuing them.

I have the toyo R/T's as well 37x12.50/17 Quietest tire that has incredible traction off road I've used yet. Love them way more than the general grabbers. When I get the bead locks in and the toyo race tires I'll write a review for those.

Thanks, I was wondering what came on the Tundra Pro. My two previous trucks had LTX/Ms2 Michelins on them (2014 and 2011 Silverado's - both were P275 55R 20). Both sets ran great, but as you say, the LTX/MS2 is a different tire. My Tundra Platinum has very different tires than yours: Bridgestone Dueler H/ L Alenza (P275/55R20), so I really can't compare and I only have ~3,000 miles on them.

Agree. You should also update it every so often, especially at the end of the life of the tires to show how many miles you got out of them.

So ok I'm weird I know but I want to keep my stock steel wheels, I've just painted them black, but I want to run a more aggressive tire slightly taller but I'm having a hard time finding one other than the dueler A/T any suggestions?

It's hard to select tires because there are so many decent ones to pick from.

You can pre order from Discount tires. The Ridge Grapplers are being advertised in all my new off road mags that just came out. No reviews yet but being a Nitto it probably doesn't suck. Looks like a decent AT, but I prefer the Cooper ST Maxx hybrid AT tread pattern. The preliminary Ridge Graps appear to have some decent sizes available (soon?)

Coopers : super great tread design, rubber compound, sidewalls, low road noise, price, reputation, quality, and the fact just about every off roader I saw in Anhorage was running with Coopers. I figured there had to be a reason. Folks get paid quite well up there and can pretty much afford the most expensive tires, yet I saw more Cooper STT's there than the pricier Toyo's and Nittos. Most expensive doesn't equal best. I haven't been this impressed with a tire since I bought Armstrong TruTracs back in 1971. The first great off road/ flotation tire, the basis for almost tread designers ever since. Desert Dogs were great too. BF Goodrich ripped off that that design. Maybe not ripped off but eerily similar tread design.
I had a co-worker a few yrs back constantly looking at computer ads. He was always afraid to get one because he was afraid as soon as he got one, a better one would be out. Same with tires. Just pick a set you like and go with it.

Only problem is I bet they'll be well over $300 a tire. Ya get what ya pay for in a way, but that's still a fair amount of scratch.

Those new Nitto's don't stand out to me either, not like the STT's did.

I prefer local when I can. My custom exhaust setup will be done local next week. Got to help the local small businesses when we can.

    Many to come.
My go-to tire on the last three tucks I've owned was the Toyo Open Country A/T. Love that tire! It is about the best compromise for my uses. It's long wearing, quiet on the highway and although not a "mudder" or "rock crawlin" tire, you're definitely not lacking if you find yourself off road in a somewhat sticky situation. I'll probably go with these again on the Tundra when tire change time comes. On a side note; I have ALL my tires siped before they go on.

Nitto just came out with a new set of tires. The ridge grappler, I'm hoping that they will have a tire size that will fit our trucks soon as I'll need tires before winter.

The prices I've seen thus far are similar to the BFG A/T. About 230 to 260 a pop. I was hoping for something a little cheaper...

If only they'd price 295/70-18's at $230-260 each, once I get my lift I'd consider buying them over the ST Maxx's.

I just recently put 295/70/18 General Grabber X3s & 18x9 XD Machetes with +18 back spacing. I have +3/0 level. The look is perfect in my opinion. Initially the ride was a little crazy, like the steering was sloppy. I was thinking "what have I done". Every day they have settled down more & more. Today they were tight & the steering was rock solid. The ride & shock absorbtion is far better that the stock Michelins. Going hunting tomorrow so I'll update how well they work in the mountains.

Got the nitto exo grappler in 285/70/18, 33.98x11.5 I've only put a couple hundred miles on them so far. They ride smooth and quiet. Drove the truck in the snow on Sat, it was below zero and they did great. Gotta get some more miles on them to know for sure if they were a good choice, but so far I love em! They look great too. I've got a little rubbing on the front fender liners, been working on reshaping the liners, but haven't gotten rid of it yet. Got three of Coachbuilder shims to get the front up to a full 3" and get rid of the lean. Might have to get 1.25" wheel spacers too.

Wheel spacers work great to give a good looking stance.

I had them on my first gen for the last couple years before I upgraded to the 13. It sure made that truck look better. My tires seem like they're rubbing pretty close to the bumper. It only does it when it leans into corners, slightly turning in. Not in super tight corners. Seems like the spacers could push the tires out to where they could get into the bumper. I know what you're going to say, trim the bumper. Any tricks to roll the edge after trimming it so it has a clean look without a sharp edge?
