Got an ‘18 crewmax and was wondering if anyone has their whole front window tinted. Seemed like I read on here something about sensors behind the mirror.

I do not however there are some threads that advise caution as the tint may interfere with the camera located behind the rear view mirror....

I tried getting mine done when I first bought my Princess, but after 2 attempts at it they called it quits. Lot of people have theirs tinted, and haven't had any issues. Makes a huge difference

I was thinking of doing the same on mine but wanted a clear tint with ceramic to keep out the heat. Anyone tried this or heard about this yet?

For those of us that have the TSS, which are 2018 and 19’ please note that the windshield tint MAY interfere with the camera we have that is located behind the rear view mirror. This only applies to 18’ and 19’ model years.

I did 50% on the windshield. The shop removed the mirror/sensor and cut the template around it. No issues what so ever and really helps with the Florida heat. The rest is 20%.

Let us know how that goes. I'm told the ceramic keeps 90% of the infered waves out which causes the heat. Good luck

It does. My truck stays a lot cooler with the front windshield tinted. Plus the AC has an easier job.

2018. Had 3m cs (crystalline) 35 on the sides and back with cr (ceramic) 70 on the windshield and sunroof. Unbelievable difference in temp. In the southeast and have a windshield shade that I haven’t used since it was installed.

Haven’t noticed any interference with the TSS yet.

Nice. I was scared to go too dark on the front. I need to eat more carrots. My night vision is going out.

There is no camera on or directly behind the rear view mirror. The TSS equipment is mounted to the windshield above and to the right of the rear view mirror on the passenger's side. It would be almost impossible to tint the windshield in the way of it, as it's mounted to the inside of the windshield and would have to be tinted around, as tint is only installed on the inside glass surface.

The TSS issues are coming from the installation. The water used to position the tint is getting squeeged into the camera unit and causing a malfunction. Might mention it to your installer if you get it done.

I was pertaining to tint strips that a lot of people install on the outside of the windshield on top.

I think people are talking about this trapezoid thing behind the mirror (bottom left of black square). I think it’s for the auto dim on the headlights or the lane departure warning though.

70 on the front is barely noticeable. The 3m does cut a bit of the glare and a shit load of heat.

I have a 16 Platinum. I added ceramic all the way around. Since the back has all factory colored glass it doesn’t take much film to get it 5%. Still good visibility inside. Windshield filmed looked like a slight blue hue before put on. They have a computer that cuts the rest of the truck. The front they put on the outside and cut it. Made it easy. The heat reduction is unbelievable. Paid 400.00

Just had my front windows done and asked about the ceramic on the front. My guy's helper was off that day and he said it took two of them to put the ceramic on the front. The cost is $110 for the front. Gonna make an appointment to go back in to have that done.

Today I was quoted $169 for just doing the front in ceramic. For the whole CrewMax, $410.
