I bought a gallon of Fluid Film and the applicator gun to undercoat my 2018 Platinum.I want to make sure that before I commit to this product that I won't regret the outcome. Will the Fluid Film attract and capture large amounts of dirt and road grime? Also, can it be removed by pressure washing with soap or Simple Green if I don't like the end product? I do want to protect my truck from the rediculous amount of salt that gets layered on our Vermont roads but want to make sure it's worth it.

I am planning to buy a gallon and use my pump pressure sprayer. My truck is eleven years old but spent all it’s life in Nashville,Tn. In the Twin Cities they used tons of salt. Peace. D

I buy the rattle cans, but I believe it is worth it.

If you're talking like a garden sprayer it won't work. Fluid Film is thick and only really sprays well out of an undercoat gun.

Keep in mind there are 5-6 different levels of ‘Fluid Film’ ranging from light coatings (rattle can) to heavy marine grade.

I used some this summer for the first time (2 rattle cans from auto supply). Initially it went on splotchy so I wiped it smooth. In areas that could not be seen I left it heavy.

The film has almost disappeared by touch where I wiped it smooth. The heavy areas are still there. It has not attracted dirt.

It did disolve that bit of surface rust and changed my frame color back to solid black like it had been spray painted. Might double up on it again before winter.

Another alternative is to do a grease wipe down.

I used FF on my Tacoma and it is absolutely worth it. I used the rattle cans, did it twice a year and took about 2 cans to do everything. 4 years later and the undercarriage still looked new. Yup it smells for awhile, but it didn't bother me.

Krown and amsoil both make similar items. I have used the Krown T40. Seems to be working well

I will have to check into the Amsoil product, I am just across the bridge from them. a few things I did was to seal up the forward (plastic) lower box protectors, they will hold sand and salt over time rust (box sides are expensive). The other was to seal up the rear wacker flairs
(they hold a ton of sand/salt), I simply put two beads thick of silicone on the plastic and a thin coat of grease on the inner sheet metal, hopefully the grease will not let the silicone adhere to the sheet metal, will see this coming spring. the other was to make up bettor protective wheel well liners https://www.tundras.com/threads/diy-wheel-well-liners.21418/

@ZPMAN Check out the Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector, I use it and found it to be less messy and longer lasting than Fluid Film

I've been using fluid film for years now and will say it is definitely worth it. While I haven't used it much on my truck, I use it on my jet skis and trailers that see salt water and it works well.

I'll have to find what I got. But it's a gallon of FF and a gun specifically made for FF. I'll take some pics and post

I’m not located in an area where it snows but once or twice every 5-10 years, so I wouldn’t know from personal experience, although buddies of mine on here and “outsiders” have said nothing but good things about it.

Seems to be cheap insurance to me.

I've used the Amsoil Metal Protector at work, love it, lasts long, smells great. Little too pricey for my personal use.

At home I use CRC SP-400. It's some great stuff that goes on liquid and within a day is a waxy coating. Lasts a year or more....I haven't had to re-treat an area I've sprayed it on.

I like fluid film, but feel it comes off too easily with heavy road spray or a pressure washer.

I do mine around November. It does hold some dirt, if you wipe the frame you will have black hands, but I don't have a single speck of rust on my frame. I just use the rattle cans and use about 3 cans a year. Cheap insurance to me.

I second ( or third ) the Amsoil MP HD spray cans. I used those on my '05 Tundra every two years, thorough spray on everything frame related underneath. 12 years and the frame looked great. Bypassed the frame recall. I'm in VA where they use salt and sand on the roads. Anywho, I pressurewash the frame, let it dry a couple days, drive up on ramps, then spray this stuff on. Easy with aerosol cans and a straw. One can will do the frame. Two cans will do frame and complete undercarriage.

Wear your PPE and an old shirt.

One 13oz can should be enough, I alway have 2 cans on hand since I use it for other things.

When I first did my truck I bought both Amsoil HDMP and Fluid Film to try. Amsoil lasts longer and is less messy to apply. I think if people tried it they would agree it is better than Fluid Film in many ways.
