ATX is a great tire. Quiet on the road, light, durable and grippy.

I am going to pull the trigger on General ATX tire. Don’t give a shit what anybody says about them. I’m sure they will kick ass!! Had two sets of General Grabber AT2 and they kicked ass, espically in the snow. They wore like steel too.

Ran the K02 in 305/65r18, put about 25k on them before switching to a 35x12.5r18 Toyo RT.

K02 Pro's: Quiet and Smooth. Soft compound rode nice. Did excellent in rain and snow. Side wall looks great. No problems aired down on rocks for grip.
K02 Con's: Soft compound wore fast for me, i feel they would be better on a tacoma/ 4runner plat form. High speed, sharp desert rocks chunked mine up fairly well. to be fair I came from MT's and treated the K02 like they would hold up better.

Would run the K02 for the fact that they were quiet, rode nice, and were lighter weight compared to my Toyo RT. But will not purchase again due to needing a harder more aggressive tire.

My last set of BFG KO2 on my 12 Tundra still had life in the tread at 55K miles, and most of you know what I did with my Tundra...a lot.

I definitely knew when a balance was due, but thats normal.

I wouldn't chose either, due to the fact the shoulder lugs are open. Heavy loads/Towing tears these type of tires up rather quickly. However, now due to where I live....my thinking might have to change and value function over longevity.

A tire like this will last a long time on the pavement while towing:

    Screen Shot 2018-11-12 at 8.28.12 PM.jpg

However, this tire wouldn't get the job done today in my driveway even after I plowed. Hell, my car with snow tires is stuck. Tomorrow, I will have to drive the truck if I even want to think about leaving the house due to the driveway. All roads are dry now.

Today the Subaru with snow tires was the mobbing vehicle.

I'd go with the KO2s. I've had a bad experience with how General handled a warranty claim (or didn't), to the extent where I will never own another General tire. The KO2's are great tires and are relatively quiet as compared with other gnarlys.

They are on back order. So I have two tires at the shop. Waiting on the other two that general promised would be in by Tuesday. They look way more aggressive in person than the online photos. They do fit on stock suspension with no trimming or mud flap removed. I’ll get pictures posted as soon as they are on

Just got 295 70 18 cooper st maxx. Seriously no highway noise to my surprise. Handle great and can’t be stopped by heavy snow and mud. I’m sure I could be stopped by severely heavy mud but i don’t plan on driving through any swamps

No offense but KO2's are a dime a dozen. Understandable because they've been around forever. I had Nitto Trail Grap M/Ts. Good....but not as good as my Cooper STT PRO M/Ts. A bit cheaper too. Stirring the pot but the truth hurts.

Being a Jeep guy in the past, I always kind of viewed KOs and KO2s as the standard other tire makers tried to emulate. I always saw the AT2s as sort of a poor man’s KO2. Even now with a Tundra, I see a lot of other ATs and MTs that look really nice on trucks or jeeps, but they don’t turn my head quite like the KO2s. Even for a better price, which can be had for some other brands like Cooper or Mastercraft, I’d still lean toward the KO2s. The only other tire that tempts me is the Hankook MT RT03, which I can get for $90 less per tire than the KO2 in the same size. Has anyone used these before? I’ve never seen them out on the road, so I’m not sure if they really are worth buying.

I will tell you what the AT2 never felt like a poor man's tire. They kicked ass just as well as BFG K02. I've had two sets of K02 and could never get them to balance, and when they wore down they turned to shit. You are paying for the name with BFG K02.

Exactly. The shop I go to said the same thing. The owner told me they don't make BFGs like they used to. That's why he pushed me towards the Grabbers. He said its a better tire that's $50 cheaper per tire. Said he ran a set of the KO2s and they last 28K miles.

I’ve not had Generals before. My truck has had two sets of KOs on it. First set lasted 60k and the current set is at 55k and still has plenty of life left. They have worn evenly, are pretty quiet, and ride smooth. Is it possible the KO2 is made from a softer compound?

    2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD Gasser

Could be! I have always been a fan of BFGs and he had to talk me out of it. But like everything else. Some people have great experiences and others dont. I mean I know people that still buy domestic 1/2 ton trucks instead of the superior tundra

Funny you said that, my neighbor said to me this morning "new tires huh.. your truck getting stuck in the snow" I said no I want a little more beef plus it will look badass. He said if you want a badass truck get a Dodge. I replied yeah all and good till you get 70K then it's goes to shit! He replied that when you buy a new Dodge. Why the hell would I want to do that.
Anyhow can't wait to give these new ATX tires a go.

Yeah my family as been GM since day one. I got laughed at until they rode in the tundra. Do you know what tire pressure you are going to have them set at? Mine are at 40 but I think I am going to try 50psi and work my way down.
