Need help. Very new here, interested in swapping the black stock door handles for silver sky metallic handles. 2018 Crew Max.

Have you guys run into bad crap on eBay? I don’t want to buy cheap shit and regret it. Any recommendations?

(FYI I searched here a while (mobile) and got 20 pages into a 40+ page thread and gave up. Whoever makes an algorithm to easily search fanatic threads is going to get riiiiich.)

I stay away from EBay for things like that. There are definitely a lot of reputable dealers but also a lot of knock offs. Spend the extra money and buy OEM. I recommend talking to @Roman from Toyota Cool Springs. They don’t always offer paint matched though so if you want it painted and shipped to your door check out SparksParts.com. “Tundras.com” will get you 5% off your order at checkout.

If sellers have 98-99% feedback and is a super seller I'd be ok with that. Check for return policy.

Personally I'm just going to paint mine. $50 for paint supply.. I know how to do it, just haven't got the time.

I just ordered color matched replacement door handles from Sparksparts.com, they're offering free shipping until Nov. 30 I think.

Depending on the total cost it may be better to do the 5% off. Just depends on your order. I did mirror caps at the same time and unfortunately it costs more for everything in Cement. Can’t go wrong with either though.. Toyota Cool Springs or Sparks Parts.

I don't think so. Lol it's just a door handle. Just paint it. I'll show when I'm done it can't tell no difference.

All of the Tundra parts I’ve bought off of ebay have been legit, but they’ve all been new OEM, often from toyota dealers.

Toyota of Cool Springs offers handles and mirror caps in color match for 1D6.

It completely changes the look of the truck. My truck came with chrome handles so painting wasn’t really an option. If I had the black plastic I might have considered having it done at a shop. But then I’d be without door handles... Kudos to you if you have the skill, equipment, and space to do it.
Personally, somethings are just worth paying for. Even door handles :)

    Good stuff, thanks everyone.

Seems like Cool Springs has cornered the market here. Are they just active posters or what?

When the weather warms up (which means July here in Vermont) I am going to try Plasti Dip on my mirror caps and door handles.

Yes I'm just waiting for Christmas break when I have 1.5 weeks paid off. Got the color match paint and 2k clear already. Gonna sand, prime, sand, paint main super white and clear it. 2k clear is no joke, it is like factory clear or better! :)

I shop eBay all the time... Heck I got most of my truck stuff from eBay (tunneau cover, rear amp step, backup lights, rear mats, bedrug)... and Amazon. Nothing on Craigslist ever, maybe Toyota Tundras just don't break down lol.

If you end up selling your black handles, I'm interested. I have chrome that I'd like to get rid of...also looking in replacing the chrome mirror caps but dont think I'm the only one doing this.

So that makes your handles black or what? Are there different shades/textures with Plasti Dip? What if I just wanted to paint mine the silver sky metallic color?

Funny how we all just want to change our own set up. I’ll PM you if I figure all this out and have the extra handles.

You can get some different colors in plasti dip. The anthracite plasti dip looks very close to MGM. With the glossifier top coat, which almost acts like a clear coat, you can get close.

Here's a start... 040 super white. I plan do more later when I have more time. Right now there is no clear (2 part 2k hardener), just making sure paint stays on with primer and 800 grit sanding.

I don't. Lol I use automotive touch-up and 2k clear cans. I just spray in the garage. I've done touch up before and feel comfortable doing it. This is basically similar to painting in a booth. Except no ventilation , so just got be careful and take time.

They're small parts so prep is key. I will likely wet sand and cut it at the end if needed. It depends.

Thanks, the base coat is soft, so once I finish the set I will spray the clear hardener on and it will be just like the expansive stuff LOL.

I believe the 2k clear is harder and tougher than the OEM clear.

Hey John.Just to be clear, you painted your mirror caps and door handles with spray cans? If so you certainly earned my respect!
