    Do you mean the small oval plastic part? If so, those are part of the drl’s. I didn’t put the bulbs back in. This is what they look like when in:

    I don’t hate them but there’s three different colors up front. I’m going to try some switchbacks for the turn signals/outside drl’s and 5000k for the inside drl’s.

    Spent a few hours messing with miscellaneous issues.

    1. Replaced front differential fluid. Old one was very stinky. I hate Allen wrench bolt heads. Don’t quite understand why they’d use that instead of a regular 14mm bolt.

    2. Replaced a clamp on the exhaust heat shield. Old one was broken but still in place and would rattle at start up.

    3. Got a wire wheel attachment for my drill and attacked the frame and all the rust spots and bubbling areas. Then, used two cans of fluid film and sprayed the shit out of the frame. Worst spot of all was not really the frame - it was the rear leaf spring mount point. Very flakey - I used a small flathead to peel as much of it before I used the wire wheel. I like how the fluid film bubbles over rust spots.

    4. Sprayed the driveway with some degreaser and power washed it - I spilled oil while trying to refil the diffs - the pump I got doesn’t fit on the oil container I got.

    5. Tried replacing the driver side oxygen sensor. Way more shit in the way than on passenger side. Gave up - didn’t have enough time, too much shit needs to be removed.

    6. Ordered large cheese pizza :)

    Pulled out the ol’ bbq pit from the back yard to clean it out, gonna use it this coming friday and wont have time during the week to clean it so just got it done.

    You can get the O2 out without removing anything. An offset socket like this works well.

    It's been about a year since I did it. I remember it being tight. I know I put the socket on the sensor and then attached the breaker bar and it was clocked at a different angle than straight on.

    On passenger side, yes. On drivers side, if you can squeeze it under the heat shield without removing it, the angle would never work with breaker bar and brake lines attached to the frame. It might work from under, with multiple extensions and angled joints.

    I bought it on craigslist from dallas. Some guy made it. I paid 250 for the bumper plain and in need of some TLC and i invested about 500 total including the bumper. I used the Texas Toyota Coalition express (Tacomaworld.com). Basically local members moved it from Dallas to Austin to Huntsville where I went to pick it up. I figure 430 is fair since I'm keeping the shackles.

    Looks good, I'd toss the steps. That's what I did with mine. Some nice rock slider's would look better and serve the same purpose. That's what I'd like to do.

    Having been on 285/75/r16 (not sure the translation into inches) I’d be looking at regearing the diffs going to a much bigger tire. Those tires look huge in the pic. I wonder if he can turn?

    My 295s feel ok after trimming. I probably wouldn't go bigger without regear either. I wish they didn't rub frame on full lock though.

    @Casper421 those lights look sharp, nice job. I would plug the bulbs in and not connect them just to avoid moisture.

    I haven't done a thing to my truck, my plans to finish it last night changed when I was done snowboarding for the day and managed to fall over and put my elbow into my ribs. I've broken the same ribs in 2011 so its extremely painful but they didn't break this time, just damaged cartilage. Doctor says I might be okay in 2 weeks but not 100% until 6-8weeks.

    I might walk out and do some light labor like sand the rust from my rotors or do some clean up. I won't be able to get that 130ftlbs of torque on my uniballs or the 150ftlbs of torque on my lower arms for a while.

    Thanks bud. I think I have some leds laying around that will fit. The plug is back in without the bulbs so hopefully it will seal off any moisture for time being.

    Sorry to hear about your injury. End of day/last run is when they tend to happen.

    Today I learned just how bad stuff from a vehicle can stink. Front differential used oil. Holy mother of god that stuff reeks and wafts into the house. I used an old towel and a shop rag to clean the spillage and the top of my oil catch pan when I was done draining. I guess some ended on my gloves as well as I was working, although I wiped them with the said rag which I disposed of.
    Well, the trash can is in the back yard and the smell escaped the can and made its way into the house via the doggy door. I removed all the trash I put into it that was related to the oil and dumped half a pound of baking soda.

    All the clothes I wore that I had by the washer, I had to throw out the house. The shoes are out. The Bluetooth speaker I potentially touched is out. The flashlight is out. There is still a bit of that smell here and there and I have no clue where it’s coming from.

    I am not sure of this fluid was ever changed. The filler plug and the drain plug looked new, at 132k. My dad says he had a service done at 90k miles, but he has no idea if they ever replaced the front diff fluid or not. I replaced the rear diff fluid - it supposed to be the same stuff, and I spilled just as much and it didn’t smell bad at all compared to this.

    So, instead of a yummy breakfast, my task this morning is to go and recycle the leftover oil - the shop I took it to yesterday had a full tank and wouldn’t take any. On the way there, I’ll throw the thrash somewhere too, probably at auto zone as I imagine they deal with this stuff on regular bases.

    Makes me never want to change fluids again.

    Eggy is the best description of diff oil. It smells new or used. You’ll need to figure a better way to fill to front. On mine, I use a long 1/2” PEX flexible water line that I drop down from the engine bay. The PEX has enough flex to put a slight bend in to make the turn into the front diff. I fill the oil from the engine bay standing up.

    For the transfer and rear, just cut the tips off the bottles and squirt it in. Use some cardboard to catch any drops. That pump I’ve seen on youtubes looks cool, but tends to be messier.

    Diff fluid always smells terrible. Idk why but that smell will stay for a long time if you spill it.
