Check out @Baja Designs. I have a pair sitting in the garage waiting for me to install. Love the look.

As mentioned here are the Baja Designs Squadron sport in Wide Cornering with Amber lense. These lights have interchangeable lenses so you could go from clear to amber. No difference in light output(lumen wise).

Edit: I am running VLEDS micro evolution in my headlights on low beam as well in this picture.

Do you currently have halogen headlights? I'm looking at VLEDS for my halogen headlamps, but want to know the results of doing so are

No. I have the new VLEDs. Same spot. Just low beams.

I started driving back before the days of halogen headlights, you know all fog lights were yellow/amber. We always installed below the bumper so they wouldn't reflect back as bad. I rarely use the ones on my Tundra, only if it's foggy or there's mist from traffic on the road. For those who've made the mods to LEDs have you noticed much reflection?

So you just stuck the LED bulbs in the halogen housing? I’m just trying to find some feed back as far as blinding on coming traffic, bad scatter pattern, etc.

Yes thats correct. I had another brand in there for a couple years and they were horrible. Great youtube how to videos but terrible and incredibly expensive bulbs. The scatter from those in rain or fog was highly noticeable. I would get flashed every once in a while. No difference in output from low to high beam.

With these new VLEDs the beam pattern is much better. Noticeable difference between low and high beam. The beam doesn't go off into the tree tops. To be honest I haven't had much drive time with them at night because the wife has had my truck the last few weeks but the trip where I took those pictures I could tell a huge difference between the old led bulbs and these new ones from VLEDs.
Also according to them they are designed to be run in stock halogen or projector housings.

This is what I just out in my 2019 Tundra Crewmax

    Auxbeam LED Headlight Bulbs NF-S1 Series LED Headlights with 2 Pcs of H4 9003 HB2 P43T PHILIPS CSP LED Headlight Conversion Kit 50W 8000lm 6000K Hi-Lo Beam - 1 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074GZ3S4P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5eokCb4EEE1AY

I did a lot of research as well as tried another brand led that didn't work very well and I can tell you that these work excellent The cutoff is excellent and light output is fantastic. The price of these leds are worth it. I've just ordered the foglights as well becaue these work so well. I plan on returning the other brand led fogs I purchased.

Why run ambers? The only thing I can think of is it would show up much better on snowy ground. Other than that just looks?

I have no idea what your talking about. So I googled it. Led me to his site. Looked around for a minute got bored came back here.

I used to have some crappy fog replacement led’s. Started amber(4300k)and eventually put on 5k sleeves. The problem with those wasn’t color(at first) but just the quality of the light. After I switched I could see how bad the lights went into the trees. The output was the same but I wanted them to match. So I left the clear on till I replaced them. When I bought my BD’s I wanted Amber because I have seen the output pictures. Like above they are awesome.
Maybe you don’t like Amber. Then don’t buy them. Maybe your not sure...order them in clear and buy the same Amber lenses.

If your not sure for the love of god Google it! Almost every search result said that Amber works better in poor weather. However some people’s eyes like one color over the other. The lenses are fairly cheap if I remember right.
Don’t take my word for it...or Googles since you can’t believe everything you read on the internet....ask the people who call their engineers “The scientists of lighting” @Baja Designs.

Just for reference I have the newest generation of squadron sports

This statement is one of the reasons I was playing devil's advocate. Placing lenses over the white fogs will reduce the light output by like half over buying dedicated Amber fogs.

Forums are full of he said she said that newbs take as fact. Just trying to make sure factual info is out there for the new ones to find!

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing you realize that the color of the leds don’t change in these? BD sells clear and amber lenses you swap one for one and you can control the optics. I am about 99.9% sure your not going to loose “by like half” the output. I am half tempted to download a lumen app and check mine but even at 1.99 I’m not a believer in your theory.
Even my shitty Headlight Revolution leds when I ran them with the amber shields were just as bright when I ran them at 5 or 6k. I have another set of BD sports I could just hook one in and do a side by side but that is in a spot pattern so it wouldn’t be apples to apples.

Also if amber was reduced by 50% why in the heck would so many off-road race teams run them in their lighting?

Alright, now I just gotta say it, it's guys like you that post the above misinformation that I play devil's advocate! Below is a excerpt from TW thread noted above...hard to argue with solid, controled environment testing with legit equipment...

"While the amber covers do a great job completely eliminating the short wave length blue light spectrum spike, they also significantly reduce the effective output. I believe Rigid claims a 15% loss, I measured a 50% loss in a controlled indoor environment with a NIST certified digital spectrometer.

    Rigid lux at 18': 395.5
Rigid lux at 18' w/ amber covers: 195.2, ~50% loss in output"

I get where your coming from. But there is wrong info in your post as well. I suggest you you reread all 31 pages on that post. All most every single time he says that amber is better for the conditions I listed. I did not buy mine to run on the street so if the op wanted to run them on the street I will agree that there are better options that are street legal(still amber for the conditions). However remember there will be more released this year.
He had a lot of great information but buying something just off of paper(or 1 persons say so) doesn’t always make sense for the average person and neither is it feasible. Nor is just 1 product the best for every situation.

I’ll end with this whatever you bought good for you. What ever the OP buys good for them. I’m 100% happy with mine. And that’s all that matters.

A short while ago I ordered the squadron Sports with the protective amber light covers. After reading this thread even if there is a reduced light output, I’m hard-pressed to believe that much light in a foggy and rainy conditions is even indicated. One of my deciding factors is the versatility, you can’t go from Amber to clear versus having the amber covers.

I did learn some things to be fair from that other thread. The OP put in tons of work to produce results in a controlled environment. A lot of data in there and a lot of thorough testing.

Here is where I take his efforts and go a different direction. I don’t know one single person that drives their truck in an enclosed building. All of his testing is in his garage. My truck won’t even fit in mine. So you have to take the next step and do real world testing. Driving at night in the conditions listed. How do those lights perform then? I don’t care about anything inside if it performs like garbage when I need it to work good.
I have aftermarket headlights. I was aware I was giving up a bit of light on the street by loosing the ability to run the fogs 24/7 on the street. I won’t do that with mine. I’m lifted on 35’s that would be a major dick move. So I only use them when I need them on the street or when no cars coming at me.

Still 100% happy with mine. Although I’m interested in the SAE ones for the wife’s next 4Runner. She has a set of sports for ditch brackets in spot pattern. Will most likely buy her the same VLEDS as mine. Last piece of that puzzle is fogs. Either the ones I have or the new SAE.
