    Well damn. Does anybody know if the resistors are required for the Tritons if installed in an '18?

    Hey DP, do you have a list of the bulbs you bought? I have a Limited so no puddle lights but I am thinking about upgrading everything else.

    I will endorse VLEDS. Yes, they are pricey, but high quality bulbs. In addition, excellent warranty and great customer service. I've used other bulbs and resistors in the past, but now that I've tried VLEDS I won't buy anywhere else.

    Personally I find the hyperflash annoying. Plus, in the old days, that was the sign of a burned out bulb.

    I just bought these also and I have hyperflash now. I put them on a 2016 with the new 2018 LED headlights. The strange thing is when I use the emergency flashers they dont hyperflash. Only with the turn signals. I am assuming it has to do with the conversion wiring harness to fit the newer LEDs to the 2016 model..... I am wondering if I get the 3157 version will make a difference.... These things are crazy bright, so I want to figure this out.

    from personal experience, I put resistors at all 4 corners and have zero hyper-flash, tried without while installing and had hyper-flash on all LED bulbs that I used.

    It would technically be the ones without built-in resistors or if you don't add them, the latter typically the more robust way to do it.

    Thanks for letting me know. Wasn't sure if I was going to be the odd one out here. I have the ihacker conversion wiring for my headlights. Honestly do not want to wire in any resistors but these are very bright and I do have to agree that the oem bulbs suck. Sure do love these headlights.......................

    Took the plunge on the Triton's with the resistors in case they are definitely needed. As well as the license plate reverse light, two 6 led 7440 reverse lights, and the 921 replacement for the 3rd brake light.:yes::spending:



    I hate this place. lol....

    Edit: I paid for regular shipping but just got an email I got bumped to free 2day.

    Sorry all learning quickly but not quite up to speed on the ohm and DRL wiring and/or plug and play fitment requirements. Think I have it correctly, but VLEDS site data is unavailable for 2019's.
    To match up with front and back V6 Tritons, I need to add a pair of VLR-3? Question pertains to 2019 Plat?

    Awaiting back up/3rd brake suggestions. Thanks

    I reached out to iHacker yesterday evening. He said installing a resistor for each side is the way to make it stop the hyper flashing. You wire it into his cabling were it connects to the turn signal connection. I really like the LEDs, but his wiring has been working so well that I really dont want to splice anything into it. Going back to stock until a better option comes available.

    IMO I always go with external resistor solutions. These LEDs source a lot of in-rush current. LEDS also will get hot on surface temperature. LEDs are not like HID and will have a very high surface temp which is why you see LED headlamps with built in fans.

    If you notice, the Resistor pack will start to get warm and eventually hot to the touch. depending on how long you have the turn signal on. Therefore, the external pack is better to allow it to cool and use some kind of heatsink. If the resistors are built in and couple that with the surface temp of the LEDS, the overall heat generated internally to the LED housing could shorten the life of the electrical components.

    Keep in mind, inside the LED bulbs are not just the LEDS, there are semiconductor chips inside that use to drive the led source current and control them. These semiconductor components are the ones that you want to protect agains the heat. A lot of these electrical components are rated only up to 85C (185F) so operating them for extended periods of time above that temperature can cause failure.
