Bosch spiral screw extractor sets feature extractors that are ideal for removing stripped screws, bolts and other fasteners. The left-hand flutes grip the metal firmly. Spiral flutes are used to remove stripped screws from harder materials (straight flutes are for removing stripped screws from softer material). made from heat-treated carbon steel, they are rust- and tarnish-resistant tools. The rolled threads are more accurate and cleaner than machined threads. They are tooled to the most exacting specifications. Laser-etched marking ensures size identification and won't wear off. They feature a precise flute design to ensure the flutes grip firmly.

I bought this to remove the broken strut bolt from my BMW e60. I did not use the drill bit that came with this kit , but the extractor worked perfectly. To drill into steel or hard metal, you may want to consider high quality carbide drill bit. Once you drill enough (~5 to 6 mm) , use the extractor that comes with the box as per the size required. Hit it with a hammer to lodge firmly and use a spanner or T-wrench to put uniform load without pushing sideways. It will work. Make sure you use enough PB blaster or any penetrating oil before you do similar job.

Before buying this, I recommend trying to use a vise grip first if there is enough of the bolt or screw to grab onto. It might be quicker and save you some money.

I used this kit to remove a few stubborn bolts that couldn't be reached by a vise grip. The hardened drills did good work and the extractor bits removed the broken bolt with ease.

I used this for extracting bolts out of an old outboard with many stripped/broken bolts corroded into the block/heads, so the primary use was extracting stainless steel bolts from aluminum. I pulled 2-3 bolts out with this and it worked pretty well. Remember that the fluted extractor should be turned with a wrench--not with a drill, otherwise you will likely immediately break the extractor. And you should use generous amounts of PB Blaster/Kroil.

Eventually, I did over-abuse this kit and broke an extractor off in a bolt and broke two of the drill bits attempting to get the extractor out. The bolt was actually turning when the extractor broke, so I kept turning even though the resistance built up and it felt aggressive. These extractor kits all require finesse, but I expected a little more from Bosch. I used a dremel to grind the extractor tip out, then drilled out the bolt the rest of the way.

So the tool did eventually break, but it lasted longer than the other cheap kits I've gotten on Amazon. Overall, the kit is good, and had I been a little more gentle, it probably would not have broken, but in the end, it is still a basic fluted extractor kit so fairly limited and requires a significant amount of finesse and patience.

I'll probably buy another to replace the broken extractor since this is still the best kit for the money on Amazon. The only thing I would change about the kit is to have reverse bits. The included bits are standard clockwise bits, and I don't really like drilling out bolts/screws clockwise.

I've tried using screw extractors multiple times over the past 30 years. This is the first one that worked. I twisted a differential cover bolt off in the axle housing of my 88 TBird. These extractors worked. The drill bits even did a good job cutting--although I had to sharpen the bit once on my Drill Doctor. I soaked the bolt in Kroil for 36 hours and it worked. I can't believe it.

The drill bits are fine and they work well, but the extractor bits
(the reason to buy this kit) they snapped really quickly. I had a very small T handle and even they snapped the bits with very little force being used.
Went to my local HD and got a cheapo set of Ryobi extractor bits and they worked right away.
