Looking for more bass

looking for a little more bass from my factory JBL system 2019 platnum. Is replacing the sub and enclosure really worth it? Any good mods for getting more from my factory sub? Or should it just be replaced and get a new amp?

second, i too have a '19 limited CM with "jbl premium system". it sucks!

i participated in the jbl sub replacement group buy a couple months back. upgraded to a custom box and 10" sub for $180.

i've noticed a decent difference in bass, but not anything to brag about. was is worth $180 (GB price) or $200 (full retail) (from james at tech12volts)? yes.

would it be worth $200+, probably not.

i'm overall satisfied, however, i still consider a full replacement (by tech12 and self install, or turnkey by others).

my dilemma, i hear "others" around my neighborhood "bumping bass", and i think, "i dont want that crap in my neighborhood". trying NOT to be that guy. i'll live with what i have for a while.

I had stock speakers swapped out with Alpines and kept the head unit.

Added a Alpine power pack to run the door speakers.

Added a Pioneer low profile 10” sub that fit in my double cab cargo box and had a Pioneer amp run it.

A kicker wire harness 50 amp fuse kit that feeds the thump under the hood off the battery.

All installed from Geek Squad at my local Best Buy for $900.00

Oh and it has plenty of bass

 

There is nothing you can do to improve the factory sub.
The custom box with 10" 2 ohm JBL sub from Tech12volts will make a significant difference for $200. You may find yourself wanting to do additional upgrades after that but if it's just bass you want then for $200 you won't find a better bang for your buck.
If you want to keep your headunit you could add a

$289 Rockford dsr1 8-Channel Interactive Signal Processor w/Integrated iDatalink Maestro Module

Rockford dsr1 and amp for that sub. But that's another $400+, and at that point you might as well add new speakers everywhere to get full sound quality improvement. And then you'll realize you would like a better head unit and then.... well and then you'll be like me and be balls deep in a full audio build.
So be careful is my advice. The tech12volts sub is your best bet but things may snowball on you.

I have a 15 Tundra Crew Max, and I've gone through a few different options for audio, especially bass tones.

For the absolute best in tone quality, Focal is beautiful. It's a bit above normal in price, but the sound is superb. They have shallow mount 10 and 12" subs that will blow out 90% of anything else, and with a lower wattage l at that.

JL has the TW3 13" sub, that is a shallow mount. Also great for mid to heavy bass, a bit cheaper than Focal, but every bit as good.

My personal setup is 2 Focal 12" subs in a custom box, with Focal componants. McIntosh amps and Kenwood up top for head unit. I have absolutely zero complaints.

 

How do you like the Power Pack? I'm debating between that and the Kicker Key. The Alpine is about $70 cheaper but the Kicker has some functions that are interesting.

The Alpine power pack works fine, it rocks my Alpine R series just fine. I put it in the dead space under the console rather than under the passenger seat.

I like the small design to be able to fit it into small spaces.

 

Are you using the power pack for all 4 doors or just for the front? I am debating on going that route with the power pack. Thanks

Yes for all four doors. I went with Alpine R Series 6.5 component for front doors with 1” tweeters in the dash. The rear door speakers are 6.5 Alpine R Series as well and are all ran by the Alpine Power Pack.
